  1. Hi Gil...welcome to the Forum You can occasionally find an ABS ring of the right dimensions through some suppliers. Here are some for other BMW models although probably quite similar if same diameter and number of teeth, etc http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&selfil=2%2C3%2C1&mvsub=1&_mcatda=true&selvel=BMW~6%20Series~1985~-~-&_nkw=abs ring BMW 6 Series 1985 Cheers Trevor
  2. I've got a year 2000 Z3 2.0 ltr....needs a bit of work on it now...probably just right for modding I would say!
  3. Hi Mohammed...welcome to the Forum The Beemer certainly looks the business! Good to have you onboard Cheers, Trevor
  4. Hi...welcome to the Forum Great looking car! Looks the business Cheers, Trevor
  5. lol...played that game....I believe from memory you have to really push it back hard at the same time. Q2 I think this is a programming process rather than a physical unplugging of leads, etc. You should be able to programme it back in by following a sequence (not sure of the sequence though I'm sure someone on here does)
  6. yes, after 2007 should be okay
  7. certainly looks effective once its wrapped Not sure about the exhaust...apart from replacing the rear silencer which would enhance the exhaust tone and possibly offer some performance increase
  8. Hi Karl....welcome back to the wonderful world of BMW
  9. Yes, come across that before...but if its the seat occupancy sensor that's faulty it is the passenger one that it's referring to
  10. Hi Jay....welcome to the Forum It's obviously worth looking for one that has full service history, preferably dealer history but independent specialist repairer is just as good. Look at whether the swirl flaps in the inlet manifold have been removed and plugged up so they don't drop into the engine http://bmwspecialistreading.co.uk/what-are-swirl-flaps/ Otherwise, they are a pretty good car, but worth trawling the posts on here to see what other issues arise. Keep us updated on you potential purchase. Cheers Trevor
  11. I think it is the seat occupancy sensor mat which usually break and flag up a code for the front passenger seat Here is a link to one of many bypass kits available to switch it off http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-E90-E60-E87-E88-PASSENGER-SEAT-OCCUPANCY-BYPASS-MAT-SENSOR-AIRBAG-EMULATOR-/200967932097?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Plat_Gen%3AE87&hash=item2eca9f48c1
  12. certainly look great ! any drawbacks or anything to look out for when getting a car wrapped? Thinking about getting one of my cars wrapped but never had it done before
  13. Hi Rich I have found with remapping that it is the improved flexibility of the engine/drivetrain that does it for me. Makes it smoother and flexible in round-town driving and economy improved on extra-urban runs allowing me to come off throttle/turbo a little which improves things all round. Cost, well...that's a little harder to justify Cheers Trevor
  14. Hi Marinaman....welcome to the Forum The X5 is a gerat car but I would have gone for the motorbike personally Cheers Trevor
  15. Hi Daniel...welcome to the Forum I totally agree with Greydog's comments....the components that have been replaced are common place on a lot of cars around a certain mileage and if it has been a company car, the mere suggestion that the gearbox is hesitant or the performance is slightly dropped then these components could have been replaced as a matter of course. As for the colour choice...its a personal thing I suppose. I personally love silver cars and very rarely go for any other colour...each to their own :-) Cheers Trevor
  16. I think cheap brake pads have a tendency to 'cook' quite easily. I recently replaced some 'brand new' Apec pads on the rear of my Honda CRV as they were crumbling slightly like they had been overheated. Replaced them with quality pads, so if you are going for new discs and you see the pads are something cheap and nasty then replace them with quality branded pads...you will notice the difference.
  17. Hi Philip As Dave has already mentioned, it is an easy enough process with the right equipment and morally it is not a problem to roll the mileage back as the MOT certificates will prove this to be genuine (unless of course you have done 85k miles in one year).
  18. I have personally never heard of anyone advising to keep automatic transmission fluid 'as is'....it is supposed to be replaced periodically, and would certainly benefit the transmission to do so. You should also replace any filters and gaskets that you encounter when replacing the fluid. The only thing I can imagine is that like Mercedes, you would have to drain and refill an exact amount of fluid and/or obtain a dipstick if there is not one present. The braking matter....more than probable that it is warped discs but these can easily be measured for run-out by any reputable garage.
  19. Hi Alan...totally agree with Greydogs advice, definitely the first thing to do. Let us know the result of the scan
  20. Hi Lorraine...welcome to the Forum Good to have you onboard
  21. Thanks for sharing this great video with us....can almost smell the burnt rubber
  22. Hi Jason....welcome to the Forum Nice brace of Bimmers there! Good to have you onboard Cheers Trevor
  23. Hi Keith...welcome to the Forum Welcome also to the wonderful world of BMW Cheers, Trevor
  24. Hi Neil....welcome to the Forum The 2.0 TDi engine is a great engine except it does suffer from a couple of maladies, of which are easily rectifiable at little cost. The only downside for the 2.0 litre in the 5 series is it could be slightly underpowered and therefore could end up being more juicy than a slightly larger capacity engine....worth looking through figures to see what gives the better mpg. Let us know how you get on with your decision Cheers, Trevor
  25. Hi Ben....welcome to the Forum An aftermarket back box would enhance the sound and slightly increase performance with gas flow. Have you got a particular make in mind? Cheers Trevor
