  1. The bigger capacity diesel engines are more than enough power to give a comfortable and relaxed drive but obviously a slightly lower mpg
  2. The 5 series sounds like a good move and personally I would chip/remap it as soon as poss to release the potential power that's already in the engine. The autobox is certainly capable of transferring the power to the rear wheels without any issues.
  3. Hi Richard...welcome to the Forum Sounds like a new fitting kit is required to take up the clearance between the pads and the carrier but allowing it to slide sideways with ease. Worthwhile applying Copperslip when assembling. Let us know how it all progresses Cheers Trevor
  4. Hi Peter...welcome to the Forum What cosmetic mods have you done? Pop up some pictures if you like Cheers Trevor
  5. Hi MIchael...welcome to the Forum The 750 is a superb car and a welcome addition to your fleet by the sound of it. Post up some photos of your collection is you like? Cheers Trevor
  6. Not entirely sure where the lines are but if the ATF has contaminated with coolant then chances are the cooler is part of the radiator (check for coolant level/loss). If so, then another radiator is required. If it is seperate, then the coolant hoses will be going to it (somewhere near the front lower part of the radiator.
  7. Hi Andrew...welcome to the Forum Catch 22 situation. I suppose it looks awesome with the wheels tucking up under the arches but then as you accelerate then it rubs....catch 22 ! I guess the answer is to fit M5 springs to avoid this (less compliance) and still keep the look as you suggested. Let us know how you get on with it. Cheers Trevor p.s. would love to see what the car looks like if you want to post up a piccy of it, if you want
  8. Hi Fred I'm guessing as you say the fluid is honey coloured that the fault may be with the transmission cooler (which may be part of the engine coolant radiator or a completely separate cooler). If this has burst, then that could be the reason for the loss of fluid and also mixing with coolant (if part of the radiator) resulting in the colour of contaminated fluid - emulsification). I would check the source of the leak before committing to replacing any parts...probably thoroughly wash underneath with a jet wash and brake cleaner and then fill with cheap fluid and run to see where it is coming from. Let us know how you get on with it Cheers Trevor
  9. Hi Fred....welcome to the Forum Really knowledgeable advice you gave on the CanBus post...I guess you have many problems with BMW CanBus then? Great to have you onboard and feel free to jump in with responses to any enquiries...really appreciate having knowledgable Techies on here. Cheers Trevor
  10. Hi Tony...welcome to the Forum It would be worth running a scan to establish the cause in case it is causing damage to the transmission. May only be something simple like a temperature sensor or low on fluid. Let us know how you get on with it Cheers Trevor
  11. Okay, that's interesting...see how that goes then. Please let us know if that works out, cheers
  12. Unless the ballast pack(s) are faulty?
  13. It could be faulty wiring or corroded connections that are not supplying the relay with enough current as you say.
  14. Hi Derrick...welcome to the Forum Not sure about just replacing the amp (with an aftermarket one) and keeping standard head unit unless of course the replacement is a standard BMW unit. This company has a good selection of replacement units, which would work with any aftermarket amplifier http://www.iceboxauto.com/bmw Let us know how you get on with it all Cheers Trevor
  15. Hi Ian...welcome to the Forum It may become an issue when the car is taken for servicing unless the dealer offers a manufacturer recommended remap, which I know some manufacturers approve certain tuning mods. The same I would imagine for the lighting which could invalidate the warranty (if any). Let us know how you get on with this one Cheers Trevor
  16. Not sure, but looking at my keyboard, the # symbol has ~ on top of it so maybe if you have the ~ symbol come up on i-drive then use Shift + ~ to give you the # sign
  17. It's a shame you've had such a bad experience with BMW as I know some of the older models go on year after year with no problems at all. I do know they now source materials and components from dubious sources (regarding engineering quality and materials used) and some models are assembled by less than skilled operatives, so overall...I think it is no different from most manufacturers but BMW cost a lot more to put right if they go wrong
  18. Hi Billy...welcome to the Forum That's an interesting question and one which I think you'll need to ask the Tuning company, as they may be able to map out the DPF settings to not be so sensitive in respect to the reduced exhaust system back pressure. Please let us know how you get on with finding a solution to this. Cheers Trevor
  19. It may be tight but an extra 5% of the profile isn't too much bigger but maybe best to try one on first before committing to a set
  20. Not too sure whether they would without offering them up to make a comparison....sorry!
  21. Hi...and welcome to the Forum Look forward to reading your posts in the future. Cheers Trevor
  22. Hi Barbara...welcome to the Forum You could try this company, looks like they have quite a comprehensive range of systems available. http://www.iceboxauto.com/bmw Let us know how you get on with upgrading it. Cheers Trevor
  23. Hi Andy, I would advise having a scan carried out to read the fault codes generated when it misfires to narrow down the likely causes. Let us know how you get on with it Cheers Trevor
  24. Hi Ross, I suppose it would depend on the cost for me, but if the dealer supplied one is not too much more then I would go with that Cheers Trevor
