  1. Nice job! I know I would probably get one wheel sorted and then the rest would have to wait and probably never get sorted :-)
  2. The Cannes Film Festival: the perfect venue for the new BMW flagship model - One of this year’s highlights is the comprehensively updated BMW 7 Series. The seventh generation of this luxury sedan is the brand’s flagship model and technology showcase. It will be presented to European audiences for the first time in Cannes The BMW 7 Series plays a pioneering role in introducing Neue Klasse technologies to the existing range of BMW models. It also marks the start of a technology rollout across all powertrain types and vehicle segments from which all future BMW automobiles will benefit. With the most extensive model update in the history of the BMW Group, the new BMW 7 Series sets new standards – particularly in the areas of design, digitalisation, comfort and electrified powertrain technology. Its monolithic exterior, the new BMW kidney Iconic Glow and the minimalist BMW Individual crystal headlights make for a striking presence. A world first is the BMW Individual Dual-Finish paintwork, which combines matt and metallic paint finishes in the same colour, with no visible transition where the two finishes meet. The interior of the BMW 7 Series combines luxurious materials and modern design with advanced technology. Highlights include the BMW Panoramic iDrive display and operating system introduced with the Neue Klasse, the first BMW Passenger Screen, the upgraded BMW Theatre Screen and an immersive lighting concept. The new BMW 7 Series also underscores the brand’s equitable drive-type approach. The powertrain range extends from efficient internal combustion engines with 48-volt mild-hybrid technology, through plug-in hybrid models, to fully electric variants with an electric range of over 720 kilometres according to WLTP. Sixth-generation BMW eDrive cylindrical cell technology is a key factor in this context. Advanced assistance systems with BMW Symbiotic Drive and AI integration. With advanced technologies and an increased use of artificial intelligence, the new BMW 7 Series Sedan sets new standards for comfort and safety in partially automated driving and parking. Innovative SAE Level 2 driver assistance systems and active safety features deliver tangible added value, while BMW Symbiotic Drive optimises the interaction between driver and vehicle. The European premiere of the new BMW 7 Series will take place during the film festival (12–23 May) right on “La Croisette”, the busiest boulevard in Cannes. The worldwide market launch of the new BMW 7 Series will begin in July 2026. Starring roles for the BMW 7 Series in movies and in Cannes. The BMW 7 Series has demonstrated its qualities as a luxury sedan in numerous movie and TV productions such as “Stranger Things”, “Mission: Impossible” and “Red Sparrow”. These vehicles driven by stars are the focus of an exhibition during the film festival. The cars on display include an E38 BMW 7 Series – the original car from the James Bond film “Tomorrow Never Dies”.
  3. Dave is correct - it is a legal requirement However......Range Rover has a screen where the driver can watch SatNav, etc whilst on the very same screen the passenger can be watching a movie - very strange concept indeed !
  4. @Rixy_1409 I have to say, from what Dave has already touched on, did the mechanic scan the vehicle to look for some sort of guidance on what could be the issue? To me, it looks and sounds more like a battery issue as the instrument panel drops out when turning over but should still register something albeit warning lights, etc. Has it had a new battery recently?
  5. I guess if you are going to all this effort to refurbish the car then go for the lot and make it how you it should be and how you want it
  6. she's a beauty but does look like the wheels are blemished and would need refurbing at some point
  7. Have a look in the For Sale section if the forum as I believe there is someone selling one for an X3
  8. Hopefully there should be some hitting the market as the new registration will shortly be released and new models coming out
  9. Has something dropped down into the area or been forced at all ? When did it stop retracting?
  10. I guess if in doubt preventative replacement would be wise as it has done quite a bit of mileage on the chain and tensioners. Generally, chattering noise from the timing chain area would indicate slack in the chain
  11. If you acquire a smoke generator (usually £40) with a built in compressor then it is easier to trace the source of the leak(s).
  12. Great looking car and have to say the breakdown of costs brought me to tears - but at least you have now got it up to a decent standard and sounds like you have covered all the bases so now it is just a case of enjoying driving it
  13. Do you have a photo or two you could upload so it can be seen - they say "a picture paints a thousand words" :-)
  14. Its good that you had the foresight to check them and replace the seals before tragedy struck - nothing lasts forever I guess but components this essential should at least outlast the car, thanks for posting up the information - could save someone the aggro and cost of an engine rebuild
  15. Haha....there I was laughing then suddenly remembered I have to do this on my old school Vespa - took me a while to get used to premixing the oil with the fuel - it has been at least 40+ years since I last had to do that 😁
  16. Does anyone have or know of where to acquire a Hard Top roof and fitting kit for my Z3 Would appreciate if anyone knows of one or has one and especially the fitting kit for sale - just message me through here initially, Thanks
  17. There are some wheel nut removal tools that should do the job https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/21pc-Tamper-Proof-BMW-Locking-Wheel-Nut-Screw-Lock-Socket-Key-Master-Tool-Set/332506448886?epid=7012375413&hash=item4d6aedc3f6:g:ZRAAAOSwmudaS7VX
  18. Haynes do a manual for the 3 series which covers the Z3 as most of the mechanicals are the same https://haynes.com/en-gb/bmw-3-series-1992-1998-haynes-repair-manual-usa
  19. Maybe easier to strip down and repaint yourself...going to do that on mine as it seems to be suffering from the same malady
  20. Worth checking the light clusters for corrosion...but as the indicators are working on the hazard switch then its doubtful that there is an issue with them as the hazards come from a different power source than the indicators....so yes you may be right with the footwell unit diagnosis
  21. Hi Mark....welcome to the Forum It sounds like one of two things....first one is that you have the wrong bulb(s) check that if the bulb holder has one or two contact points then the bulb should have the same amount also. Secondly, if the earth connections are poor then this could also produce the same effect....try running an additional earth wire to the side of the bulb and see it that cures it. Let us know how you get on with it Cheers . Trevor
  22. let us know how it all goes and would love to see a piccy of it
  23. If it works then its the cheapest route to go otherwise replacement is the only other option then
  24. Hi Adam....welcome to the Forum Fine looking car and practical as well...enjoy! Good to have you onboard Cheers . Trevor
  25. Top quality repair....shame it happened in the first place :-(
