Hi Ben....welcome to the Forum Good to have you onboard Cheers Trevor

My first bmw 320d
Great result....it would only have been waiting for it to fail and it would probably have been at a most inconvenient time as well. Brakes should be straight forward enough and hopefully no surprises.

Non comfort key fob 2007 320d
My thoughts are replace the battery and go from there but not sure about the coding side of things though but if the battery is flat there is no harm in trying it. Usually, (on older BMWs) you would have to code all the keys together (at one time) so not sure if it is the same process.

Possible head gasket issue?
Hi Baz....welcome to the Club I would agree with Greydog on everything he has mentioned and also sometimes it can be something as simple as the coolant pressure cap because if this is problematic then it can either not blow....hence the reservoir popping and not the cap releasing the pressure and also if it is weak, this can introduce a lower boiling point. So for the case of either pressure testing it or even replacing it, it would be worth looking at before spending big money. Also the sniffer test for combustion gas in the coolant is definitely a must as also a cheap diagnostic test. Temperature Infra-Red gun would determine where the hotspots are in the engine and show coolant circulation temperatures. Let us know how you get on with it Cheers, Trevor

VANOS system on by BMW.
Hi Samuel....welcome to the Club As Greydog has mentioned, Vanos are pretty reliable and the only time they really play up is if the oil quality is not good and then after a good engine flush the performance can usually be restored. Let us know what you find with it Cheers, Trevor

Issues with my BMW
Hi Gabor....welcome to the Club Is it burnt Diesel or a neat unburnt fuel smell? Fault codes from the ECU would give some information about what is occurring in the system and if it is injector related then so be it, but at £200 a pop, then it's not worth taking a chance without some more diagnostics. Let us know how you get on with it Cheers, Trevor

1 series 2008 microphone connection
As Greydog has mentioned, there should be one there already....if not, then can you use the phone's microphone by changing settings?

Hello All
Haven't seen any posts about boot badges but personally, I will probably remove mine shortly as I don't like the font styling and think they are too chunky so after the repaint I don't think I'll refit them.

Hey!👋
It is a great all round car, not surprised you're enjoying it. Have you got any piccys of both cars to post up?
-
Hey!👋
That's an aweful shame....but these things happen. Onwards and upwards to another car is sometimes the best way forward

Hey!👋

Hey!👋

Looking at buying a 320d m sport advice please guys
Swirl Flaps, yes....and don't think it would invalidate any warranty as it is a positive modification to improve reliability and not the other way round so can't see it would be a problem.

Hello All
Definitely worth keeping on top of any bodywork and you probably won't have to carry out much maintenance to the rest of the car as they are pretty bulletproof. Mine was unfortunately written off by a Transit van on the wrong side of the road :-( However, I bought it back as a Cat C and replaced the front bumper and the bonnet and all okay now except for some fresh paint need on the front end (wrong shade of silver paint). Otherwise, apart from servicing and a front caliper which seized, I have never put a spanner to the car, it never needed anything to be fair. Great reliability! Any advice you need just ask as I'm sure there are plenty of experience Z3 experts on here who can help

Looking at buying a 320d m sport advice please guys
Hi Jamie.....welcome to the Forum 20k budget, you should be able to find what you want but sometimes its just a waiting game.... Only thing I can think of looking out for is the usual wear and tear which you can find on any used car and need to research vehicle history but otherwise, the inlet manifold acoustic valves tend to fail so make sure they are removed and blanked off or budget for it when haggling over price. Otherwise, great cars...hope you find one soon Cheers, Trevor
