Hi Stuart....welcome to the Club The servo issue I would say is either a vacuum leak which is affecting the servo operation or it is a faulty servo unit. Either way I would resolve it before it gets any worse. The oil burning issue may be worth changing the grade and see whether that makes much of a difference. Hi Ian just a few suggestions....thinking logically but may be way off the mark....has the rear screen been tinted?

wasn't sure of the size/depth of puddle but worth checking the air filter to see if there is any water ingress

Hi Daz I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it may be a case of the engine suffering a hydraulic lock (this is where the engine sucks up the water through the inlet and when all the valves are closed the piston comes up and hits the water in the cylinder....as water cannot be compressed it then bends the con-rod). An easy way to check this would be to carry out a compression test on the cylinders and if one (or more) is low then this is the situation. However, I have dealt with many water ingestion faults over the years and it is something that the insurance company will pay out for if you have comprehensive cover so worth having it checked first and then maybe contact your insurance company. Hi Colin....welcome to the Forum As Greydog has mentioned, it is very difficult to pinpoint the exact issue without carrying out a scan on the ECU memory to see what faults are stored or even looking at the live data when the fault occurs to narrow down the possible causes. My first thoughts are fuel pressure dipping slightly but again, live data would show this occurring. Let us know what you find out Cheers, Trevor

Hi Joe....welcome to the Club I believe you can see the model code printed on the boot struts (if fitted) but otherwise, as Greydog has suggested, fire up realoem and trace it through there. Not sure about powering off the audio when locking the car but as for the headlamps...Greydog has once again hit the nail on the head....bulbs are certainly the best way forward in the short term Cheers, Trevor

Greydog I concur...have save may a battery where it's just sulphated and once conditioned its been as good as gold. I use the DataTool charger that I got with my motorbike and can highly recommend that and the Ctek as well

BMW can suffer from a whole range of maladies if the battery is allowed to go too flat and then recovers once it is recharged to a suitable level. However, worth keeping an eye on any problems cropping up, could be battery related. Are you referring to your profile to change the model or are you referring to actually changing the car to a facelift model?

Hi Malcolm....welcome to the Forum Usually, a beeping noise is accompanied by a warning light of some description, albeit seatbelt, door open, low fluids. Wouldn't worry about a puff of smoke on start up especially if it has been laid up for a while. Let us know what else transpires with the beeping noise Cheers, Trevor

Hi Johnny...welcome to the Forum Unfortunately, that is one down side to rear wheel drive cars....no weight over the driving wheels. Unless you have the X-Drive then it is a case of finding the best tyres to grip in icy conditions (sorry, not sure which these would be though) and using different driving techniques. Hopefully it won't really get that cold this year in the UK, unless you're in Scotland or remote areas where there is likely to be snow. Let us know what you find with your choice of tyres. I find this quite unbelievable! Firstly, we are in Europe and all headlamps are made to a European standard and stamped as such. Secondly, what is the difference in the headlamps if the main objective is to aim the kick-up to the correct side (if any) so as not to create any undue dazzling for oncoming cars....that is it! Years ago there were differences on the lens (glass lenses) that affected the parabolic beam pattern but on modern lamps, this is no longer the case. I think they are having a laugh and are after as much money as they can extract from the British motorist. Keep fighting and keep letting us know how it goes.

It seems the Dealers are battling it out amongst themselves then....this could get very interesting. Keep us updated Paul
