Its good that you had the foresight to check them and replace the seals before tragedy struck - nothing lasts forever I guess but components this essential should at least outlast the car, thanks for posting up the information - could save someone the aggro and cost of an engine rebuild

Haha....there I was laughing then suddenly remembered I have to do this on my old school Vespa - took me a while to get used to premixing the oil with the fuel - it has been at least 40+ years since I last had to do that 😁

Maybe easier to strip down and repaint yourself...going to do that on mine as it seems to be suffering from the same malady

Worth checking the light clusters for corrosion...but as the indicators are working on the hazard switch then its doubtful that there is an issue with them as the hazards come from a different power source than the indicators....so yes you may be right with the footwell unit diagnosis

Hi Mark....welcome to the Forum It sounds like one of two things....first one is that you have the wrong bulb(s) check that if the bulb holder has one or two contact points then the bulb should have the same amount also. Secondly, if the earth connections are poor then this could also produce the same effect....try running an additional earth wire to the side of the bulb and see it that cures it. Top quality repair....shame it happened in the first place :-(

Maybe worth flushing out the engine oil with something like Wynns or Forte to clear out any carbon deposits and see if that resolves it. Also, worth trying good quality fuel to see how that works.

Hi Steve...welcome to the Forum The 635 is an awesome car and is generally quite reliable but a thorough inspection before buying backed up with a long warranty has to be the best way forward. I would recommend an independent inspection company like Dekra https://www.dekra-expert.co.uk/vehicle.inspections It also helps to get any defects rectified prior to purchase or price reduced to compensate. A good remap (for economy and driveability) shouldn't compromise the durability and reliability of the engine....different story for remaps solely for performance gains (e.g. stage 1, 2, etc)

Hey Jude (sorry couldn't resist that) I would opt for the 2.0 if you are going to use the estate for the purpose it is designed for (e.g. carrying loads) in which case the extra power should compensate to a better MPG overall. Let us know what you think of it when you get to drive the 320 in comparison to the the 316 and 318. Cheers, Trevor

Its nice to know the speedo is reading fast so that when you go through a camera at least it will be the right side of the limit :-)

Enjoy it and always tempting to know what MPG it will do it you go lightly on the throttle :-)

Could be that the engine has been on a regeneration cycle (if it has a diesel engine) and the temperature is increased for this cycle so has to cool down enough after switching off?
