  1. Job done took to a garage 2mins from me needed tensioner and idle pulley, as well alternator nice to hear those after market exhaust .
  2. How big a job is it to change alternator on bmw e53 4.8,and what would you pay for garage to sort as don't think I would have any knuckles left if I have a crack at it.
  3. Over the last few days I have a constant whining noise which gets louder and faster when the accelerator is pressed. It's there whether in park or neutral. Could it be alternator, idle pulleys or tensioners? If so, are these jobs easy enough to do? Changed my coils and plugs already, what an improvement there. Also can't open front passenger door from inside or out, or using remote. Cheers, J
  4. Hi back again want to give car complete service over next few months which are the best plugs for 4.8 and was going to change coils choices on the bay prices cheap what you think got do flexi joint on drive shaft and change gear box oil and filter when bit warmer info would be great Thanks Jerry

  7. Afternoon I put a fuse in slot 46 not sure what ampage could someone give info now 4x4 and abs lights go out for 10 seconds then pop back on do I need to get them cleared help
  8. Diagnostic could not communicate with transfer control unit plus battery losing charge on tester .think I go with control unit first battery under leg tank bit more cost
  9. Which fuses are connected with the transfer control module
  10. Hi can anyone out there tell me location of control unit transfer box had diagnostics scan : no message from transfer box, receiver transmission control, transmitter transfer box- as my 4x4 and abs lights still on guys said it could be knackered or or I've done something when changing fuel pump they where really helpful.DNA Autocare Nottingham
  11. changed fuel pump on x5 running smooth now, but 4x4 and abs lights on wont go off when i turn wheel lock to lock . battery kept going flat so wonder if that caused it, as these lights have never been on before any info would be welcome.
  12. Right, here goes...I have a 2005 X5 4.8 iS,the key fob stopped working but can lock the doors manually. A few days ago the car felt like fuel starvation then it picked up again. Went to work, parked the car up for 9 hours, then after work, came to start it up and it just did several long cranks and wouldnt start. Put a tester on the pump wiring and there appears to be power going to the pump, but when you turn the engine over theres no sound from the pump but the car sounded like it wanted to start. Would the battery being flat in the remote key fob prevent the car from starting? I have bought a pump relay in case its that but would like to know where on the vehicle this is located? The car battery keeps going flat so dont know if the battery is kaput now. The vehicle is fitted with an LPG doughnut tank at the back with the battery underneath this, which could be a pain if its the battery thats the problem! Also fitted with a stainless steel after market exhaust system. Any ideas, information or advice would be very gratefully received! Thanks, J
  13. Hi, my name is Jerry New to forums, not big on social media! Thought it was better to come on here for advice and information from knowledgeable people rather than main dealers. Current vehicle is X5 4.8 05 plate.
