  1. If it works then its the cheapest route to go otherwise replacement is the only other option then
  2. Hi Adam....welcome to the Forum Fine looking car and practical as well...enjoy! Good to have you onboard Cheers . Trevor
  3. Maybe worth flushing out the engine oil with something like Wynns or Forte to clear out any carbon deposits and see if that resolves it. Also, worth trying good quality fuel to see how that works.
  4. Hi Steve...welcome to the Forum The 635 is an awesome car and is generally quite reliable but a thorough inspection before buying backed up with a long warranty has to be the best way forward. I would recommend an independent inspection company like Dekra https://www.dekra-expert.co.uk/vehicle.inspections It also helps to get any defects rectified prior to purchase or price reduced to compensate. Let us know how you get on with the purchase Cheers, Trevor
  5. Hi Barry....welcome to the Forum That's a difficult one....first thoughts are non-factory conversion and Cat D as well....maybe worth holding out for the right one? Cheers, Trevor
  6. A good remap (for economy and driveability) shouldn't compromise the durability and reliability of the engine....different story for remaps solely for performance gains (e.g. stage 1, 2, etc)
  7. Hey Jude (sorry couldn't resist that) I would opt for the 2.0 if you are going to use the estate for the purpose it is designed for (e.g. carrying loads) in which case the extra power should compensate to a better MPG overall. Let us know what you think of it when you get to drive the 320 in comparison to the the 316 and 318. Cheers, Trevor
  8. Its nice to know the speedo is reading fast so that when you go through a camera at least it will be the right side of the limit :-)
  9. Enjoy it and always tempting to know what MPG it will do it you go lightly on the throttle :-)
  10. Could be that the engine has been on a regeneration cycle (if it has a diesel engine) and the temperature is increased for this cycle so has to cool down enough after switching off?
  11. Hi Miguel and welcome to the Forum I personally find the feature annoying although in a city with constant start-stop traffic it can be a blessing. The feature can be switched off it annoys you so your choice really. Let us know how you get on with it Cheers Trevor
  12. Hi David....welcome to the Club Quite possibly is it this one: 3.0 L M57/N57turbo I6 Keep us updated on how you are getting on with it and would love to see some piccys of it Cheers, Trevor
  13. let us know how it goes...be nice to see if that resolves it
  14. Would be interesting to see how readings differ between the speedo and actual GPS readings with the current wheels/tyres combination
  15. Fame at last ! will look out for the video when it's released
  16. Hi Lee Is it a plastic or metal elbow? I would assume that if it is secured with fasteners then it can be removed and replaced. Let us know if you manage to source one and if not then we may be able to dig deeper Cheers Trevor
  17. Hi Rob It shouldn't make too much difference to the speedo reading as there is always a % fudge factor either way (you can always check it on an external sat nav) also if you are altering the profile of the tyres, as you say, there wouldn't be much if any of a difference in readings. Cheers, Trevor
  18. Hi Paul I think it is a case of 'its worth it to someone who wants it'....I would try putting it on ebay with a very high reserve just to see what the bids are like and then go from there...at least you'll have a valuation, of sorts. Cheers, Trevor
  19. sounds like immense fun...always great to see their face after being taken out by a sleeper
  20. LOL....I'm sure they have done that It sounds like you know what you want from a car and I agree that sometimes it does come down to engine choice and other factors that dictate the vehicle you have chosen to drive I drive a Honda CRV (3rd Generation) 2.2 CDT-i on a daily basis and I will probably grow old with it (although it may see it's demise in better condition than me). It just does what it says on the tin and does it very well, so no point in getting shot of it. However, a man cannot have only one car...bit like a woman with handbags and that's where the 'other car(s)' come in....lol
  21. Hi Razvan...welcome to the Forum Difficult one to pinpoint the cause ..... first thoughts were of the turbo bearings failing but not so sure as it only hits the spot at certain revs and it was bearings it would evidence throughout the rev range. Thinking it may be an induction leak (inlet manifold, hoses, intercooler, etc) but don't discount an exhaust leak (anywhere from the manifold, turbo and through to the downpipe). Maybe a smoke test is the best way forward....that would narrow down the possible causes almost immediately. Let us know what you find Cheers, Trevor
  22. Wow! that's a fantastic collection of cars you've had over the years, Dave. AMG is such a superb breed, never had the opportunity to own one (as yet). Any thoughts of 'what next' or will you be sticking with the Beemer?
