New E39 member slowing down!
Wow! I was born in 1962. My older brothers had a Vauxhall Cresta and a Hillman Imp. The latter had a rear window sticker declaring "Running in, Please Pass".

She's back on the road again :-)
Good luck with it. I'm not sure winter is over, though, they are forecasting snow at Easter! I now know what Vanos Seals are courtesy of Wheeler Dealers 😃

Bmw Guide Contributors Wanted!
I would love to help anyone on here, I really would. I know how to do most things and served an apprenticeship as a mechanic (in the 1970's!!). Now I am crippled with arthritic knees and other health issues. I now have to rely on other people to do anything for me.

IC Silicon Hoses
Hello all, Am in the process of having a Wagner IC fitted. I am trying to find replacement hoses, but in silicon. They seem to be available for every model bar mine! I am then going to remove my Bluefin map and have the car re-mapped on a rolling road. I have fallen out of love with Superchips (Bluefin). Extra clout comes on too late and at engine revs you don't spend much time at. This is Bluefin (generic) map for mine: http://www.richard-barber.com/curve.htm Any help "sourcing the silicon" (sounds like a p*rn film!!) would be much appreciated. CAR IS: 2016 F30 FACELIFT 335d

Run Flats or Non Run Flats
My came with runflats. Awful hard ride BUT so much tread I will only change when I need to. Michelin Pilot Sport 4's are my choice + a spare dolly wheel!: https://www.thewheelshop.co.uk I think if you are after comfort, you need to drive a less "sporty" car.

FUEL FILTER
Hello everyone, Does anybody know where the fuel filter is for a 2016 F30 335d? Youtube is suggesting it is within a small tunnel under the car. Surely not?

BMW 320d rough idling and white smoke
Rattling could be the timing chain or incorrectly set valve clearances. Either the engine has been rebuilt badly, or it hasn't been rebuilt at all. I'd find a BMW specialist who could give the car a once over. You don't have to have them fix whatever is wrong. You can choose where you go. ANY smoke from tail pipe is an automatic MOT failure.

Looking for an x5
Hi Brian, There's probably going to be an abundance of diesels available, given the way UK Government is going. Not sure about LPG. Auto trader is a good start. This example shows availability from London, but within 40 miles. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-search?postcode=w45rr&radius=40&make=BMW&model=X5&include-delivery-option=on A !Removed! extension, or not, enjoy...

Welcome Andy, I'm of a "similar" age and my 335d is as a result of my second mid life crisis. The first one returned me to motorcycling and the third one is saying.....M4, M4!

Trans failsafe mode lots of codes
Welcome Emma. There's quite a lot of errors there and it is an old car. Try and find a BMW specialist near you who could help, not BMW themselves you understand. Error codes aside, what is the problem with the car?

M135i xdrive
I wasn't questioning you at all Dave, and I agree with you. There should be, no doubt is, a solution to the noise. I am amazed BMW have yet to solve it.
-
M135i xdrive
"The reason for the noise level is the extremely high pressures at which the direct-injection fuel system runs. ... Second, the solenoids that control the fuel flow, both at the high-pressure pump and in the injectors, need to be much stronger in a DI engine and are consequently noisier." Email from BMW saying battery needs replacement - should I trust it?
You're welcome.
-
Email from BMW saying battery needs replacement - should I trust it?
No, I think its done purely on age of car/battery.
-
Email from BMW saying battery needs replacement - should I trust it?
Its common place apparently. I come across it a lot on my 335d FB page. Touting for business. However, be mindful that Stop/Start will wreck your battery and engine too. Try and turn it off with coding app.
