  1. Great advice Dave. I remember the early days of my apprenticeship....Marina's had an in built rattle. Had so many cards off but never resolved issue.
  2. I wouldn't mess about trying to seal it. Have a new one + gasket fitted = Peace of mind. If it is near where thermostat is located (and I don't know that it is), have that changed as well.
  3. I have used Bluefin on same model. Very happy with result + I can revert back to normal map as and when I need to. https://www.mybluefin.co.uk/Details/ECU-Remap/BMW/3-Series-(F30-LCI)-2015->/Diesel/335d-3.0TD-313-bhp/gu66evl
  4. BMW won't give you anything free unless they have to. I think other than that link, you are into paying for it.
  5. Not sure. I updated mine shortly after purchase but says no updates since. What link are you using? This one only updates phones etc. https://www.bmw.com/en/footer/software-updates.html
  6. One of my neighbours gave me this for Christmas. She knitted it herself. I like it a lot. She takes orders and can produce in most colours.
  7. Dave is, as always, spot on. I have a similar issue but I've yet to get it done.
  8. I agree with Dave. The IDrive update is not an issue just ensure you keep all original bills/invoices. Oh and Kwikfit is a complete no, no - even for tyres or exhausts.
  9. Is there still air in the system? You mention burping. I'd try a pressure test on the cooling system. Will show up any leaks.
  10. My 3 series pick up road noise too. Turn the radio up! Otherwise, try some research: https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=best+tyres+for+bmw+X1+
  11. This would be my choice when my existing run flats have worn out: https://www.tyrereviews.com/Tyre/Michelin/Pilot-Sport-4.htm I then need to invest in one of these: https://www.thewheelshop.co.uk
  12. Yes it does sound bad. Sounds top end. Small end/s? Valve train? Its very hard to diagnose just by listening. I'd have a BMW specialist (NOT BMW dealer) have a look at it. It sounds like a diesel engine!
  13. Not sure about all engines, Dave. Mine is N57Z. BMW deny it has one as does a main dealer (Lancasters - Bury St. Edmunds). My hand book says drive for 30 miles or 40 minutes (I think. Something like that, anyway) - then check oil level using IDrive, and with engine running. It shows an oil level gauge on screen! https://www.autoscopecarcare.com/bmw-forum/bmw-low-oil-sensor-how-do-i-know-if-my-bmw-is-low-on-oil/
  14. Just been to a BMW specialist for service + MOT. They showed me where there dipstick is, depsite BMW and their appointed dealers saying the engine dosen't have one!! Its easily accessible under the bonnet, from the nearside of car. You don't need to remove the engine cover. 2016 335d
  15. These people are very helpful: customer.information@bmw.co.uk
  16. I used this chap the other day. Very impressed. He will travel an hour radius away from Thetford, Norfolk.
  17. Diesels work in a different way and it may actually cause harm fitting an aftermarket exhaust. In terms of sound, on a diesel, it won't make a blind bit of difference. It will sound the same wherever you get exhaust from.
  18. You may struggle here. I think most members are from the UK.
  19. Yes I would, and did. I use the manual controls quite a bit too.
  20. I used BimmerCode a long time ago to get the car the way I wanted. Was delighted with result/s. Having a play with it today and notice you can set all windows to close and the car to lock with the remote. Mine wasn't set so have enabled it. Good if there's a few of you in car. You can ensure all windows are closed when they get out of car.
  21. They normally take yours in and use the bones of it, then fit new parts to it.
  22. Confused is great. Have used them since they began. I have saved a lot of money over the years. www.confused.com
