  1. I have seen that before little blighters climb in where it is warm. Good find,if it isn't repairable use www.realoem.com to get the correct part numbers then Google to find replacements Dave
  2. Morning Kingair Welcome to the Forum A diagnostic read with Inpa/Ista ( or a BMW capable Diagnostic program) would confirm exactly what is happening. If you don't have access I would first check the loom and connections if all are good and you are actually changing a single injector I believe it wili need registering through Inpa/Ista or similar Dave
  3. Morning James Welcome to the Forum Unfortunately we are in the hands of designers who grew up playing video games Personally I am solidly with you it is a distraction drivers don't need plus a single fault in the screen renders the car unusable?? The video gamers want to move us towards driverless cars, dont they realise we already have those they are called trains Dave
  4. Hi Jim Have you looked at www.realoem.com it's a BMW online parts list put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will bring up your model. Then search the sections for what you need (Body or Trim section would be my guess) It will give you part numbers so when looking for replacement you know you have the right bit. Plus there are useful Exploded drawings that should help with how stuff fits Dave
  5. Morning Jim Welcome to the Forum Have you checked You tube for how to videos also worth checking www.pelicanparts.com (a USA site) but everything is basically the same and they have great How To's with pictures. Good Luck Dave
  6. Morning Julian Have you talked to Andy Walker Walker Autotech in Wisborough Green excellent guy he may also know a detailer that could help Dave
  7. Morning Ross Welcome to the Forum I assume your car is the 430/440 engine with the exhaust valve in the rear silencer As I understand it the was to reduce noise at idle and low revs but opens on throttle use or sport mode being engaged. I did read some time ago that starting the car engaging Sport mode (flap open) go to the boot and pull fuse F203 flaps should remain open. Warning I have also read this can cause a CEL warning lamp Dave
  8. Afternoon Martin A tough one to help with. When the fault first appeared did you contact the Dealer and note the mileage? Hopefully you did which can strengthen your case with them and BMW what was their suggested action? Also check any other Forums eor any other reports? Good Luck Dave
  9. Morning Aleksei Welcome to the Forum Try You tube for removal Videos they normally have something. To be sure you don't break or damage any of the trim parts get a set of Proper Trim removal tools they are not expensive and will prevent damage to trim and fixings. The CIC fault could be a loose connector or a failing joint on a circuit board only stripping and testing will tell. Once out you can make the decision to repair or replace it. Dave
  10. Morning Adam Sweeeeeeet motor ENJOY For your Carbon mirror caps try your BMW Dealer or check www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box, then search for the mirror section to get the Part Number. Then Google for suppliers. Dave
  11. I take lots of pictures of Sensor connectors and pipework connections to help my old brain when putting it back Dave
  12. Hi Adam All straight forward done a couple for friends of our sons there are several good "How To" videos on You Tube Dave
  13. My bet would the starter relay has that been checked/changed, But I have the benefit of a Full Diagnostic suite Dave
  14. Good thinking Stu Lorna try starting in Neutral Dave
  15. Morning Adam If you haven't already I would take off and make sure it is clean and operating as it should. Check the hoses are in good condition not cracked or hard. Fingers crossed Dave
  16. Not with all of them my Erisin Android 10 unit didn't need to use it even though the car has it in the armrest (though as said I don't have DAB) The first 5 series I did an Erisin (Android 6 I think) did need the Aux plug connected to get sound from the Sat Nav and other Apps. So I would say you need to read operating/installation instructions carefully for which ever version you buy. Dave My 4.4 E53 I had a Dynavin unit my E53 4.6is is all OEM.the E70 is Erisin Android 10
  17. As said sometimes the clever people need to take a long look at the results of their design and planning. BMW are not alone in positioning sometimes vital parts in stupid places or just poorly designing them. Then trying to get us to pay for their errors. Audi, Mercedes and a few others have had their moments as well Good Luck Dave
  18. Morning Alan Welcome to the Forum I have swapped 2 units for friends of our sons (1) an Erisin unit and (2) a Droid unit both were straight forward to fit and took about 2 hours with tea and biscuits My 2007 E70 has an Erisin Android unit fitted mainly for the more modern look and better Sat Nav programs. I don't have Dab with my E70 I believe there is a separate module needed for that as the radio is the BMW OEM unit. With my E70 unit Bluetooth was a bit fiddly to get working properly but apart from that OK Hope this helps Dave
  19. Morning Kay. race Welcome to the Forum Most of my experience with 5 series has been with my brother in-law cars he is on number 5. All his cars have been owned from new and covered 150k+ before trade in for the next. he has it serviced by BMW to their schedule (mainly to ensure they accept it as a trade in) but in between we carry out additional oil changes and take care of any niggles. There have been a few well publicised faults over the years which BMW have mostly fixed. Your car a 50k with a full history should be fine, my personal feelings are extended service intervals do not help a cars life which is why we carry out interim service's on his cars as I do on my own. Check its history and make sure all recalls have been attended to make sure everything works as it should. Then drive it and enjoy it Dave
  20. Think I answered most of this in your other Post Mark MPG will be similar to your Honda round town on a run 40+ Acceleration will be a surprise so make sure the kids and dog are strapped in tight, oh and hide your licence 🤣 If you get it enjoy it Dave
  21. If you aren't aware look at www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin in the search box it will call up your model. Then search the sections for what you need you will find Exploded drawings showing how stuff is fixed/fitted It will let you be sure you have the correct part numbers even for any brackets and fasteners Hope this helps Dave The advantage of INPA/ISTA is it also has workshop information.included
  22. Hmmm, how did it pass an MOT? Unless they took the DPF/EGR off after MOT? Sounds good for replacing stuff anyway makes your life easier Dave
  23. It's just waiting for you to relax 🤣 Dave
  24. Morning Adam If they haven't coded out warnings and sensors for DPF and EGR the dash warning lights would all be on ? So you may have a bit of digging to do when you refit stuff Good Luck Dave
  25. Hi Mark Welcome to the Forum Wow that is a serious step up in car, your mechanic friend is right to a degree, you are contemplating a complicated car that carries all the additional costs of parts and servicing that go with it against a car that has a much lower operating cost. That said I have two friends with X5 5.0d both like me enjoy doing their own servicing and repairs, that makes running these cars very reasonable in my (and their opinions) Make sure the car is smooth in operation plenty of power is an understatement 8 speed box should be effortless and silky smooth in changes, make sure everything works as it should test everything (twice) Tyres make sure they are correct * rated tyres and have plenty of life replacing them is expensive and essential not to cut corners with tyres. Get yourself a BMW capable Diagnostic Fault code reader (I have INPA/ISTA and BMW 1.4.0 note 1.4.0 is pre 2005 models ) If you are competent with spanners you will be fine Dave
