  1. Welcome to the Forum Marc Picture's Picture's Dave
  2. Morning George Check under seat plugs and get the codes read and any outstanding reset. Any remaining codes will give us a starting point. Dave
  3. Not sure about it being independent with the 7 wire set up Good Luck Dave
  4. Morning Stu Now it looks as though we have a couple of dry days I will see if I can get a picture of the wire to tap into to power your Halo/DRL's My son's LED bulbs are H7 and give a good strong white light and as far as I know a straight swap It will depend on what lamps are in the headlight ? Dave
  5. Morning Jon Check www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin in the search box it will bring up your model, then check the suspension/body sections to find what your looking for. There are small exploded drawings that will help seeing what goes where and what the fastners are any plastic fastners I wouls buy replacements before starting work. This will guarantee none break !! (sods law at work) and if they are brittle and break you have replacements. Check www.pelicanparts.com it is and American site so you won't find any diesels but the petrol versions are virtually the same underneath, they have some very comprehensive "How Too's" with pictures Dave
  6. Welcome Adam Check the in-let side for any vacuum leaks a perished or split hose can give the symptoms your seeing, then check all electrical connections unplug give a good squirt of electrical contact cleaner (not WD40) clear down the codes and see where it takes you. Dave
  7. Morning Jacob You could try talking to ZF their base in the UK is at Crick. The question in my mind is the loom connects to the EGS Transmission controller which in turn communicates with the DME (engine management) Will the existing system recognise the box would be my concern. Have a look at www'realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin in the search box (your car should be in the Classic section) it will bring up your model Also check www.newtis.info for wiring diagrams which may help Good Luck Dave
  8. Morning Matt Welcome As Trevor says Battery may be the culprit, however with my X5 I had several electrical issues which I eventually tracked to poor earth connection at one of the multiple earth comb type points in the boot. Try opening the bonnet letting the car go to sleep and measuring the drain at the charging point in the engine bay, it should be in the low milli amp range. Check out www.newtis.info to see if there is any technical information on what is normal Dave
  9. Morning Jon Welcome to the Forum Definitely a leak somewhere it's a case of checking all the joints between the compressor and the air bags. I would start with the airbags as they are the most exposed part of the system and being rubber can perish and crack, their life will depend on the conditions they in everyday any where from 3 to 10years + Dave
  10. Morning Louisa Welcome to the Forum When you say "the Garage have had it "is that a BMW dealer or Specialist or and Independent garage? Without the correct software they will not see all the fault codes so will not see a problem, worse they may start throwing your money at the issue in an attempt to cure it. I would think that the car is still under BMW warranty (under 3 years and only 28k) so I would start there, with a BMW dealer don't be afraid to go to a different dealer there can be massive differences in their attitude. Dave
  11. Tried Google ?? Mine are normally so MUDDY you can't see the writing Dave
  12. Welcome to the Forum Luke Don't stick to the extended service regime change oil and filter at more regular intervals (5k for me) Also get yourself a BMW specific code reader they are a great help even if you are using a garage to do the work. Google BMW Specialists (there is a register) and find one near you, normally about half the price of a dealer but with the same knowledge and specialist tools. Last but not least a couple of websites www.realoem.com this is a BMW online parts list put the last 7 digits of your vin in the search box and it will bring up your model, then www.newtis.info this is a technical site BMW dealers use the same information. ENJOY your new car Dave
  13. Morning Dale Welcome to the Forum BMW standard fitment is a Westfalia removable tow bar, you certainly can purchase it through your local BMW Dealer but you can also get it through P F Jones and several other companies who should be capable of fitting the appropriate wiring harness as well. If any one starts to tell you they have to cut or splice cables walk away these kits are plug and play. After market suppliers such as P F Jones will also be cheaper than a Dealer, I would Google P F Jones get the contact details and talk to them get costs and compare them. My X5 with Westfalia tow bar has a capacity of 3500kg (7700lbs) with a nose weight of 150kg Good Luck Dave
  14. Hi Andy There is a guy who specializes in X drive repairs in Oldham (I believe) Also get the rear diff checked as wrong tyres causing wind up in the suspension can cause damage If it is just the actuator drive gear you may be lucky and be able to remove the actuator motor and replace the nylon gear drive looks like a starter motor on the transfer case Dave
  15. Welcome to the Forum What a motor ENJOY Dave
  16. Now you know why they give you a first aid kit under the passenger seat !!
  17. Hi Ian Perhaps there is a BMW specialist near you that will be a more sensible cost Google will help there is a Register of BMW specialists Alternatively there may be a member near you with the software to read the codes (I am in West Sussex) Dave
  18. Morning Tom Have a check on www.realoem .com it is a BMW online parts list, put the last 7 digits of the Vin into the search box and it will bring up your model. Then search to see what spring options are available (M sport maybe) other than that it would be an after market kit Good luck Dave
  19. Morning Glen Welcome to the Forum Pleased to see you chose the fastest colour Great looking car ENJOY Dave
  20. Morning Ian Welcome to the Forum That's a new one on me Best guess an alarm/immobilizer sensor malfunction? Have you run any diagnostic checks? Dave
  21. Morning Helder Welcome to the Forum The ZF transmission in your car should be serviced every 80 to 100,000 kilometers BMW in their wisdom state "sealed for life" So how many miles/kilometers has your car covered? and when if ever has the gearbox been serviced ? I would start by finding either a ZF service centre or ZF agent near you they will be able to plug in and diagnose the issue accurately. Often a flush and change of trans fluid and filters with a software update will be enough. Obviously to change a torque converter is a box out job which is much more costly Good luck Dave
  22. Afternoon Jonathan Check out www.realoem.com It is a BMW online parts list put the last 7 digits of your Vin number in the search box it will bring up your model. Then search to see what parts are needed plus it will give prices in $ as it is a mainly US site but it will give a feel for cost. Dave
