Hi Mark....how did you get on with finding out whether it has got swirl flaps?
-
I suppose the philosophy here is that it has already done 140k miles then it probably won't go wrong now.
Also, being from 2004, an era which produced good quality cars its unlikely that there is too much to worry about.
Always worth staying on top of any maintenance tasks and should go on forever.- 1

Hi Simon....welcome to the Forum
Would love to see some pics of it when you get it and as Dave says, would be good to get your thoughts on it and what its like to own and drive.
Good to have you onboard
Cheers, Trevor

How much (approximately) are you looking for?

Hi Lindsay
A Tuning Box is generally a good way of going to obtain instant power increase and drivability usually with increased fuel economy for very little cost.
Companies like DTUK are a good start for instant power increase and more importantly a much smoother drive. -
That seems very strong money for the year...unless of course it is very low mileage

Hi Daniel
You should be able to find a garage to separate the CV joint from the bearing with a hydraulic press and hopefully not damage the joint so you can reuse it

I would imagine the best time would be around March or early April so people can plan their events throughout the year

Hi Mark
Probably a bit late in the season now although I do see some local car shows on in September, can be hit and miss on the weather though.
Let us know if you find any good ones going on and we'll see if we can get a few members together to attend as a club.
Cheers, Trevor

Hi Karen
I would definitely consider repairing the Z3....after all, they are going up in value.
Not sure which engine size it is and also how many cylinders?
If it has the four cylinder engine then these are cheap and plentiful and very easy to fit a new one....all in imagine you would be looking to fit a secondhand engine for around £650 to £750.
The alternative is to replace the piston or rings which again is an easy job on these engines but I would have a garage Leak Test the cylinder to determine whether it is a defective piston or valve (simple job to carry out with compressed air and see where it leaks from). However, if it is the 6 cylinder engine as Dave has already talked about then costs would be considerably higher (much more complex engine).
I'm hanging onto my Z3 for both sentimental and also financial reasons and cannot imagine a day where I will part with it
Let us know how you get on with it
Cheers . Trevor

Hi Adam
Usually if the MAF is disconnected then the system runs on a default setting (which is usually quite acceptable to drive on) so it confirms the MAF as being faulty.
I would replace it and then see how the other codes appear, or not as the case may be

Hi Charlie....welcome to the Forums

It definitely sounds like turbo boost pressure leaking from one of the hoses or intercooler....you would have to have someone on the throttle holding it to boost pressure while you listen to where its coming from.

Hi Mike....welcome to the Forum
If you would like to draft up an advert to post in the For Sale section then I think it will get seen and hopefully a buyer found.
Any rough idea of how much he would want for it?
Cheers, Trevor
