reduced oil pressure and poor quality oil can definitely lead to the Vanos system not functioning correctly.....noticeable on my engine, even when changing the oil filter.

Watch this space....will be putting new seals through my twin Vanos 2.0 litre 'baby six' next week so will create a repair guide.

Hi John....welcome to the Forum
Wise words of wisdom from Dave and something that is quite often overlooked by many owners of 4WD vehicles of many different makes and models.
Enjoy the road trip and let us know how you're getting on with the X3

Speed limiting technology looks set to become mandatory for all vehicles sold in Europe from 2022, after new rules were provisionally agreed by the EU
Do you agree with this or not, will it save lives?

Hi David....welcome to the Forum
I would definitely call in an independent vehicle inspector to investigate the car.
First thing that rings alarm bells is that you say it started off pulling to one side and then got progressively worse, can't see how that is possible if it is damaged components that are the cause.
If it was a sudden failure of a suspension component and as it worked loose or similar then that would make sense. It sounds like a cover up to me, I'm sure there is a recent thread on here about the electric power steering column or motor failing which could cause the same symptoms and also it is a manufacturer fault that they are not owning up to (wrong type of bolts used).
Let us know how you get on with it

Hi Danny....welcome to the Club
Can only imagine there is a huge imbalance somewhere in the driveline....does it happen in all gears?
