  3. Good afternoon all I am looking to sell a 1987 lhd 635csi m6. Can anyone advise what would be a reasonable asking price. The car is in good condition and all original (including the little torch!).I live in central France and it is a very reluctant sale.
  4. Does anyone know where the starter motor relay on a 2005 is located?
  5. Hi, I am on the verge of purchasing a BMW 520d xDrive M Sport (2018). The car is on 121,000 miles. I was wondering if anyone with more knowledge than me can listen to the video on the following link of the engine and see if there are any abnormal sounds showing potential issues? https://streamable.com/j75uf3 I would be really grateful if someone can assist with this as I am a little torn about whether I should go ahead with the purchase. Thanks in advance.
  6. Also now, 'Vertical Aim Control Failure'.
  7. Hi Rhys My guess would be that the diff issue was prior damage and that's why you have New Correct tyres now. There is a Register of BMW Dismantlers worth a Google and try a few others. If you aren't aware try www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will call up your model, then search Front axel. When you have the part numbers if you double click the part number you will get a list of alternatives plus a list of other models it was used in. It may help widen the search Dave
  8. Morning William Welcome to the Forum Yes the N57 and N47 do have a reputation for consuming oil BMW do quote 1ltr per 1000 miles. However a friends X6 needed work on the Turbo when that was done new Turbo seals were installed and his oil consumption has dropped dramatically. I have also read PCV leaks or issues can cause higher consumption The pipes, Turbo to Intercooler and Intercooler to Inlet Manifold are clip on, and if they are not seated correctly or the sealing ring is damaged they can give issues. So make sure the connection is clean and the sealing ring in good condition Dave

  10. Haha....there I was laughing then suddenly remembered I have to do this on my old school Vespa - took me a while to get used to premixing the oil with the fuel - it has been at least 40+ years since I last had to do that 😁
  11. Morning Gerry Get a copy of BMW ISTA/INPA it will give you full dealer access plus includes full Workshop information and Wiring Diagrams. Like you I have serviced my own cars since the 1960's when Computer diagnostics began to become common in the 1980's I brought my first OBD tool. Then when Volvo became more specific (had Volvo 760, 960, 850, and V70) I obtained a copy of Volvo diagnostics, then Mercedes Star and in 2002 BMW INPA for the first X5 Currently I have ISTA/INPA so still carrying out my own diagnostics and servicing, the advantage of ISTA is if there are software upgrades if you can obtain them they also can be carried out with ISTA BMW have now resorted to upgrades only being provided from their servers so they retain control Enjoy your G80 Dave
  12. Morning Nick Just looking at those initial screens I am not surprised your having problems 1st screen tells you that several control units are not communicating correctly as they have faults stored light brown colour and one greyed out and another is red not operating at all 2nd two screens show a list of faults and an explanation of what they are Your first job is the Control units they should all be in the Green. You need to investigate each one in turn to fix the faults. Once a Fault is repaired the fault will remain in the memory unless cleared by you. Clearing a fault doesn't fix it though it may allow normal running for a period until it returns Next stubborn faults remaining may need further investigation. ISTA is a very powerful program but it can't fix things you have to do that. ISTA will give you a test plan to rectify it also contains workshop information and wiring diagrams plus pictures of components and where they are located it will even list tools required. Dave

  14. Hello Mark and Dave Yes, part of the work at the running-in service, at 1200 miles, is to remove the running-in spec oil (which apparently smells different to 'normal' oil) and amend the ECU to allow 'full' power. There are several videos on Youtube etc with these details. I hope this helps, Orchpot
  15. Hi Sam A Silicone spray or a little Vaseline, remember the footwell is a mucky place all sorts of mud grit and god knows what brought in on our boots 😆 So make sure everything is clean, really clean all dirt and grit hoovered out the electrical components are sealed to protect them so your target is allowing free running sliding action of the pedal. Dave

  17. Morning Mike Welcome to the Forum Wow what a post that's a load of work. My only thought is a complete back track and thorough check of all connectors, relays and fuses. I have seen an issue where the terminal 15 relay was damaged at a battery swap caused a lot of problems. I would go back to standard get the motor running before attempting a full re-flash you would at least have a usable car with an established base line Good Luck Dave
  18. welcome to the club Joe!
  19. Hi - new to forum. I have a 220i M series 2024 suffering from the headlight condensation problem. Started in October on one headlight and now the other has followed suit. Under warranty, the dealer pressure tested the light and said it was faulty and would be replaced. Unfortunately what has been happening in the past is that they have been replacing the headlights with ones that are also faulty hence ongoing problem. Apparently headlights manufactured after September/October 2025 should now be fitted. I’m still waiting as have been told there are no replacements in the country! BMW - major car manufacturer - should have sorted this mess out years ago!
  20. Hello, can you lower the rear seats? There should be a manual release in the boot if you can access through there.
  21. Does anyone have or know of where to acquire a Hard Top roof and fitting kit for my Z3 Would appreciate if anyone knows of one or has one and especially the fitting kit for sale - just message me through here initially, Thanks
  22. Morning Gary Not sure that will work as I believe the mirror mounting angles are different LHD/RHD but I may be wrong Swapping the Mirror internals should be possible though Good Luck Dave
  23. Morning Kevin Your into the realms of Personal choice and Budget here Personally I like the same tyres all round, so as you have Bridgestone on the Front I would go that route. Then there is the Budget if your able to stick with BMW approved tyres I would do so (Bridgestone are BMW OEM fitment) ENJOY your Beemer Dave
  24. Morning Steve Welcome to the Forum What state is the battery low voltage can be behind all sorts of Odd behaviour, check voltage at the charge points under the bonnet at rest key out engine off it should be 12.5v with the engine running you should see 14.5v+ but to be sure I would get a Diagnostic scan carried out. Steering after all is important 🤣 Dave
  25. Morning Paul Have you tried contacting Hella Direct they may have a customer services that can help. A friend in Belgium had had a 7 series at around that time he had a hidden Isolation switch that after start had to be pushed or it would cut out. His was under the dash near the centre console. If my old memory is working it cut the fuel pump Good Luck Dave
  26. Hi Porlus, Thank you for contacting me with your question. I have to say for a start that my efforts in creating a responding issue with BMW fell completely on my face - virtually no-one wanted to get involved. Therefore, all I can offer is advice. If you are buying from a dealer than almost certainly get them to check whether the problem has been addressed. I believe all it requires is a simple but accurately drilled hole that will allow collective water in the sills to drain away regularly. This simple remedy should diminish the window winder mechanisms from getting drowned in residual water. Push that this is done as part of your gaurentee/warranty needs. If you are purchasing from a private seller you have far less control on the issue but maybe as part of a bargaining stance it could still be in your best interest to get done. Do not consider not buying the car, but rather just make sure it has been done so that it saves you £2000 !!! All the best !
  27. All right, my BMW heads I’m running itsa D an I got the code of egs G_0x32 which I looked up and it says transmission control module. I was wondering if I replaced the control module will it fix the problem?
  28. Morning David Welcome to the Forum If you aren't aware check www.realoem.com classic section enter the last 7 digits of your Vin then check the section you need (Clutch) Double click part numbers and you should see a list of Part numbers and any alternatives that were used. You will also see dimensional information. An internet search using the alternate part numbers may help source something (he says hopefully) I guess you have already tried BMW UK Classic Customer support If none of that works an Engineering shop may be able to re-bore the cylinders you have or may be remanufacture them Good Luck Dave
