  1. Morning Tom Welcome to the Forum Your Transmission is a ZF 8 speed ZF recommend service between 60k and 100k Fluid and Filters. If you are doing it yourself make sure you use the correct fluid type Dave
  2. Looks a real mixed bag some low and a couple high may be time to consider either a refurbished set or new, they will need coding though
  3. Like most of the electronics and accessories on your car BMW don't make it they buy it in OEM sensors are I believe made by HUF and are not as expensive as they are when packed in a BMW Box 🤣 The biggest cost/pain is the tyre has to come off to change them that is why when one failed on my E70 I waited for Tyre change time then did all 4 Dave
  4. Morning Gerry Welcome to the Forum I take it you are in the USA so under the Hood (Bonnet) drivers side there should be the Charging points Live on the bulkhead and Negative on the inner wing near the suspension tower. If I recall there should be an internal emergency release but the rear set has to come out to get to it Hope this helps Dave
  5. Hi Stu The sensors on the E53 are a different system they work with the ABS reluctor rings to check rotation if one wheel varies in revolutions due to tyre being under inflated it triggers the warning. The E70 communicates with a module by RF actually measuring Pressure in the tyre You can swap front wheels but each time you do it will need to recalibrate with the system, also take care that the wheel/tyre combination are the same rolling radius as the rears or you could end up with transfer box issues Dave PS Don't know where you are in the UK but I have a set of 20" Type 87 wheels (Staggered set) with good tyres for the E53
  6. As a Beemer driver a sense of humour is compulsory 🤣😂
  7. Not unusual to have one fail I brought a set of 4 from Amazon at the last Tyre change as two of mine were acting up worked straight out of the box no issues. Dealer wanted a body part to fix them 4 from Amazon £20 or so and as the tyres were being changed anyway an easy fix.
  8. Hi Rod I replaced the headunit with an Android unit £300 from Ebay. A 1 hr Plug and Play exercise better Sat nav, Bluetooth and several othe apps plus Android Auto all built in Easier to upgrade plus it retains all the BMW functions in the OEM unit all controlled from the i-Drive controller Have not discovered any downside yet (2 years in) Dave
  9. Hi Paul Welcome to the Forum Are you sure the heater matrix needs flushing if you are then the nearside of the engine bay are two hoses one from the bottom of the header tank the second is attached to the Auxiliary water pump. Disconnect them and flush from there However I have known the poor heater performance to be a failed Auxiliary water pump worth checking that first. Dave
  10. That is why I would be complaining loudly to the dealer and BMW they changed a rack under warranty but didn't clear the issue it seems If your car has the mode selection button why is it not functioning as it should? Dave
  11. I would make notes and time frame and write to the Dealer with a copy to BMW Customer service, if the Dealer carried out work under Warranty they have a responsibility to make sure that any repairs and replaced equipment work correctly. How can a steering rack not working correctly be a "Characteristic" of the car ?? Crazy and a stupid excuse, the steering is an essential safety item. Dave
  12. Morning Alexandra Going back a few years (our youngest son is 40) but it was no different then. My car then was an E55 Mercedes no insurers would consider him as a named driver until he was 21, my wife's car at that time was a Volvo V70 T5 yet her insurers Admiral accepted him as a named driver ? One of our neighbours recently had to buy a small Peugeot and insure it then their daughter could join as a named driver ?? All I can suggest is keep searching the market Dave
  13. Surely if they fitted the rack and it isn't functioning correctly they have some responsibility ? Have you tried BMW UK Customer services
  14. Hi Terry Then it's back to BMW as there is something not right Good Luck Dave
  15. Morning Terry Welcome to the Forum Heavy steering compared to what ? As an example my wife drives a Subaru Outback she wont drive my X5's because she thinks the steering feels to heavy. You say you have had a new steering rack fitted, I believe your car should have Electric assisted power steering so is the rack correct for your car? Who fitted it and was it registered to your cars chassis (I believe yours may need that) Tyres can also have an effect on steering are yours correct and correctly inflated? Sorry if this raises more questions than answers Dave
  16. Morning Steve I would think it is Xenon D1 35w (That is what was in my neighbours 3 series touring same vintage as yours) but check on www.realoem.com to be sure Dave
  17. Morning Alison Welcome to the Forum If the mats you have are not OEM they won't have the anti slip Velcro or Studs to keep them in place Take a look at www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin number into the search box it will bring up your model then search the trim section for the item you need make a note of the Part Number. Once you have the part number do a Google search for the best supplier/price don't dismiss BMW Dismantlers they often have mats in perfect condition. Then of course there is your local BMW Dealer not cheap but you know they will fit Dave
  18. Hi Paul I talked with my MOT garage and got the same advice as you had, they said they were seeing tyres around 3 years old with visible signs of cracking in the sidewalls As you say all we can do is keep a close watch at MOT time
  19. An expert is among us 🤪 the information I supplied is taken from BMW TIS Workshop Information plus having repaired a few So rather than throw out insults and innuendo try telling us how you fixed the issue with yours Also try reading the Post it was dated 2018
  20. Morning Neville When a Regen is occurring the engine has to have reached a high operating temp so doubtful at start up Dave
  21. Hi Neville Sounds as though something is loose in the exhaust a baffle may be Hope the garage can sort it Dave
  22. Take care missing emission control equipment is an automatic MOT fail so removal could end up costing more than you think. I know lots of people will tell you "they can't tell" a friend of our son had EGR and DPF delete and remap great for a year then 2 garages failed it for MOT cost of replacement was almost the cost of the car. Dave
  23. Hi Chris Welcome to the Forum Check your hand book for the correct switch and i-Drive settings Dave
  24. Hi Antonio Welcome to the Forum I have never seen a B7 in the flesh only read about them, from what I remember the engine uses modified twin scroll Turbo chargers so will not be cheap to repair/replace I also thought the B7 was introduced in 2016 so not sure what model you actually have? Dave
  25. Then I would say your battery is dead the recent cold weather probably tipped it over the edge. New battery will probably sort it check that the battery is correct for the car and registered to ensure correct charging Dave
