  1. Yay well done Alex Like I said our "Go to man for Diesels) Now you can enjoy your Beemer again Davve
  2. Glad it worked 😃 Try (if you aren't already) www.realoem.com for BMW parts numbers some times it takes a visual search of the sections as I don't think it would find Gizmo 🤣 Dave
  3. Morning Jeffrey Welcome to the Forum I believe they call that a buffer stop BMW used them on several models so should not be that hard to find. One of our Z3/4 drivers may be along to confirm Hope this helps your search Dave
  4. Damn Smarty !! Fingers crossed for you Alex
  5. Hi John I am not aware of Right Connections worth a Google search to see if their kits are "Universal" or Specific to a model The local Company I used (Tanfield Towbars) ordered in the Oris kit for the X5 and it came with the loom complete It just needed plugging into the PDC controller and registering to the chassis. If the trailer plug is connected to the car the rear PDC is disconnected but the rear view camera is still in use. I would think any competent Towbar Specialist would know how it all goes together and how it should work Dave
  6. You will become our go to man for Diesel fuel systems 🤣🤣 Fuel pressure sensor on the HPFP is just about all that is left Dave
  7. Morning Steve Welcome to the Forum If your car didn't have Bilstien as OEM it will not accept the inserts Start with www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will bring up your Model. Then search the relevant sections the small exploded drawings are useful for identifying where stuff fits and how and the part numbers are good for Googling the best source/price etc. If you double click the part number it will bring up any alternatives/models parts were used on. Good Luck Dave
  8. Rants are part of the analysis process ( normally with me it ends with "how did I miss that) so Rant on matey 😅 You are probably on the money with one of the New parts having a fault. One of our sons friend had a problem that was down to the "O" ring seal on the fuel rail pressure sensor. The sensor was new and was fitted by a Garage that had carried out the work similar to yours, car started fine was driven home and sat on his drive for a coupe of days then wouldn't start ?? The Garage due to pressure of work couldn't help for a few days that's when our son volunteered me. We started at the tank and filter and we worked our way forward it was when checking the fuel rail pressure sensor we found a small crack/split in the "O" ring it was enough to not let rail pressure reach and hold sufficient pressure The Garage supplied him a new sensor (FOC) we fitted it and after around a dozen or so cranks it fired up and touch wood is still running OK. His Garage had never seen it before nor had I and personally wouldn't have suspected such a tiny split could be the cause. Hope you find it soon Dave
  9. Morning Ste Welcome to the Forum I fear that BMW is your only route with such a new vehicle BMW stopped access to www.realoem.com from 2019 year on making life increasingly difficult for anyone who wants to make changes or upgrades. Good Luck Dave
  10. Morning John Welcome to the Forum BMW OEM fitment is I believe Oris or Westfailia so an after market fitting from either company should be OK as the loom is pre-designed to be plug and play (no hacking into the cars loom) My E53 X5 came with a Westfailia removable tow bar from new, my E70 3.0d has an Oris removable tow bar fitted by a Local tow bar specialist no problems or issues with any electrics. Dave
  11. Morning Alex Welcome to the Forum I would start with a careful back track of all work carried out a PITA I know but the only way to be certain each part is OK. Run fuel off after the filter through a Coffee filter paper that will show any metallic swarf if there is any (fingers crossed) Check the rail pressure sensor "O" ring I have seen one with a split that was causing similar issues to those you are getting I believe there is a Bleed sequence in ISTA (never had to use it myself) has that been followed? Still a diesel virgin myself so feeling my way here Dave
  12. Morning Jason Welcome to the Forum Good to have a fellow Tinkerer on board Dave
  13. Just spoke with my Brother-inlaw he has a 540 Touring apparently his is stuck to the Headlining using a double sided sticky pad saves touching the tailgate trim and works really well. Dave
  14. Oh my Lordy Lordy Take a look at www.realoem.com either search by model or put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it should bring up your model. Then look at the trim section there are small exploded drawings that should help even if it is an earlier model fixing will be very similar As far as I am aware the roof liner is a preformed section that is held in place by trim clips and screws at the grab handles, it is on my X5 anyway (I assume you have the Panoramic Roof not that it makes any difference) The Auto electrician quote is probably for 1 or 2 hrs work and seems reasonable. My experience of Halfords is "Good for Parts" but that's it. BMW like most Manufacturers have things designed for Production line assembly not necessarily for being worked on often on modern cars whole sub assemblies have to come off to gain access ??? I have a friend who has a Mercedes SL he settled for a combined Front/rear camera that sits by the mirror and seems to work well. Dave
  15. Morning Ram Welcome to the Forum As it is less than 3 years old have you tried the Dealer it should be tight and quiet? Obvious thing ask a passenger to place a finger on the dash/lid around the Glove box to see if that effects the rattle. At least you will know where it comes from. I take it the glove box is empty ? be embarrassing to have a dealer empty it and stop the rattle 😁 Dave
  16. Morning Sue Welcome to the Forum Sadly Halfords staff are not the best trained or knowledgeable lucky he didn't drill holes What you need is a set of trim removal tools and some patience, on the tail gate the upper trim panel I would remove then there are trim panels on the hinges (you only need one side I would say passenger side) The roof liner will need freeing up at the rear, now you should be able to feed the camera lead through from the tailgate to the headlining. Replace the tailgate trims and start working along the side of the car above the doors take off the grab handles and pull down the rubber door seals you should find enough room to feed the cable along the edge inside the Headliner to the front. Nice and neat out of site and no holes, time wise I would allow 2 or 3hrs with tea and biscuit breaks. A decent Auto electrician would I guess take about the same maybe quicker as they do it more often. If you can't DIY then look for a good local garage or auto electrician (their rates will be way less the BMW) Google fitting the camera see what comes up you never know someone may have posted a video Good Luck Dave
  17. Morning IIija Welcome to the Forum Normally with aftermarket Head units there will be a Canbus interface that plugs in to allow all in car controls to work as normal I would guess either the Canbus interface hasn't been fitted or is at fault have you tried contacting the Manufacturer to see if they can offer advice ? Installation manual for example that may give clues. Good Luck Dave
  18. Sorry Tony Can't find much to help other than the sounder should be clipped into the kick panel in the drivers footwell there should be a plug on top. Try unplugging one of the plugs on the PDC control unit in the boot (one front one rear) If you get one end working it may help narrow it down. Dave
  19. Morning Mehmet Sometimes when confidence goes in a car moving on is the best thing Good luck with whatever you decide after all we get cars to enjoy not stress us out Dave
  20. Have you had a Diagnostic scan using a BMW capable scanner? Check the ignition switch and circuit. I take it the "Display" is the cars screen ? Dave
  21. Morning Liam Welcome to the Forum Not good any Idea how bad an accident ?? Worth checking the Engine mounts and the Transmission mount Engine mounts have a vacuum attachment which can effect running and vibration Dave
  22. i believe there could be one under the Drivers seat. Strange you have sounder under the dash and no wiring ?? I wonder if a previous owner has helpfully re-routed it I will have a look at INPA later see if I can find any clues/wiring diagrams Dave
  23. Morning John Welcome to the Forum A quick look at www.realoem.com shows 3 alternate part numbers First 13621286064 discontinued in 2004 Next 13627547981 and last 13621279704. Try Google to find a supplier of any of these These were used on your model plus 3,5,and 7 series cars that used that engine Hope this Helps Dave
  24. If you look under the spare wheel you will find the battery mounted in front of the battery you should see a white or grey plastic unit it has 3 plugs on top 1, White 1,Blue 1.Black that is the PDC controller One plug is for the front sensors one is for the rear sensors the third is for the Tow Bar electrics if they are fitted it turns of the sensors when the trailer electrics are plugged in There will be no warnings other that with a full scan if I scan my E53 it will tell you which part is not working EG. Rear sensor Centre Right or PDC controller error As I said these often get water damage Good Luck Dave
