2012 X3 F25 wing mirror failure
Afternoon all, Just collected the X3 from the local (and brilliant) independent - the wing mirror switch over and lens transplant completed - all good and I ended up with a bill for an hour's work which am completely satisfied with. Have just bought another wing mirror for the right side so that will be switched also and will have the plastic cowling both sides re-sprayed to match. Superb job again by AP lads in Colchester.

Hi all!
Morning Gary Welcome to the Forum Looks very pretty and it seems your not afraid to raid the piggy bank looking after it ENJOY Tyres you can fit Non-runflat tyres to runflat rims but not the other way round, it will allow a greater choice of tyre. As your car is Xdrive you need to ensure tyres are correct sizes or you will be raiding the piggy bank for transmission repairs. Not sure about the last part of your post are you selling parts or looking to buy another E46 ? Dave

1st BMW (2012 X5 40d)- Need help
Hi Rhys My guess would be that the diff issue was prior damage and that's why you have New Correct tyres now. There is a Register of BMW Dismantlers worth a Google and try a few others. If you aren't aware try www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will call up your model, then search Front axel. When you have the part numbers if you double click the part number you will get a list of alternatives plus a list of other models it was used in. It may help widen the search Dave

Ali express
Haha....there I was laughing then suddenly remembered I have to do this on my old school Vespa - took me a while to get used to premixing the oil with the fuel - it has been at least 40+ years since I last had to do that 😁

BMW x3 E83 M54 using ista+
Morning Nick Just looking at those initial screens I am not surprised your having problems 1st screen tells you that several control units are not communicating correctly as they have faults stored light brown colour and one greyed out and another is red not operating at all 2nd two screens show a list of faults and an explanation of what they are Your first job is the Control units they should all be in the Green. You need to investigate each one in turn to fix the faults. Once a Fault is repaired the fault will remain in the memory unless cleared by you. Clearing a fault doesn't fix it though it may allow normal running for a period until it returns Next stubborn faults remaining may need further investigation. ISTA is a very powerful program but it can't fix things you have to do that. ISTA will give you a test plan to rectify it also contains workshop information and wiring diagrams plus pictures of components and where they are located it will even list tools required. Dave

Reduced power in before run in service
Hello Mark and Dave Yes, part of the work at the running-in service, at 1200 miles, is to remove the running-in spec oil (which apparently smells different to 'normal' oil) and amend the ECU to allow 'full' power. There are several videos on Youtube etc with these details. I hope this helps, Orchpot

2013 116d - RPM hanging
Hi Sam A Silicone spray or a little Vaseline, remember the footwell is a mucky place all sorts of mud grit and god knows what brought in on our boots 😆 So make sure everything is clean, really clean all dirt and grit hoovered out the electrical components are sealed to protect them so your target is allowing free running sliding action of the pedal. PWG to EWG mess - need help
Morning Mike Welcome to the Forum Wow what a post that's a load of work. My only thought is a complete back track and thorough check of all connectors, relays and fuses. I have seen an issue where the terminal 15 relay was damaged at a battery swap caused a lot of problems. I would go back to standard get the motor running before attempting a full re-flash you would at least have a usable car with an established base line Good Luck Dave

2023, head light full of condensation
Hi - new to forum. I have a 220i M series 2024 suffering from the headlight condensation problem. Started in October on one headlight and now the other has followed suit. Under warranty, the dealer pressure tested the light and said it was faulty and would be replaced. Unfortunately what has been happening in the past is that they have been replacing the headlights with ones that are also faulty hence ongoing problem. Apparently headlights manufactured after September/October 2025 should now be fitted. I’m still waiting as have been told there are no replacements in the country! BMW - major car manufacturer - should have sorted this mess out years ago!

Rear tyres
Morning Kevin Your into the realms of Personal choice and Budget here Personally I like the same tyres all round, so as you have Bridgestone on the Front I would go that route. Then there is the Budget if your able to stick with BMW approved tyres I would do so (Bridgestone are BMW OEM fitment) ENJOY your Beemer Dave

Steering after all is important 🤣 Dave

Alarm Question
Morning Paul Have you tried contacting Hella Direct they may have a customer services that can help. A friend in Belgium had had a 7 series at around that time he had a hidden Isolation switch that after start had to be pushed or it would cut out. His was under the dash near the centre console. If my old memory is working it cut the fuel pump Good Luck Dave

4 Series Convertible - water collection in sills issue !
Hi Porlus, Thank you for contacting me with your question. I have to say for a start that my efforts in creating a responding issue with BMW fell completely on my face - virtually no-one wanted to get involved. Therefore, all I can offer is advice. If you are buying from a dealer than almost certainly get them to check whether the problem has been addressed. I believe all it requires is a simple but accurately drilled hole that will allow collective water in the sills to drain away regularly. This simple remedy should diminish the window winder mechanisms from getting drowned in residual water. Push that this is done as part of your gaurentee/warranty needs. If you are purchasing from a private seller you have far less control on the issue but maybe as part of a bargaining stance it could still be in your best interest to get done. Do not consider not buying the car, but rather just make sure it has been done so that it saves you £2000 !!! All the best !
