  1. Top Man thanks for the close out to the post
  2. Hi Daniel Welcome to the Forum Your tapping noise could be a number of things from a sticking hydraulic lifter to a failing chain tensioner. What is the service history ? Extended service intervals can cause issues get the Chain tensioner checked/changed would be a starting point Dave
  3. Hi Allan Welcome to the Forum The fact you can hear a hiss sounds like either an air leak (inlet manifold) or a vacuum leak Both will upset running a bit more information what engine diesel or petrol would help Dave
  4. Morning Damien Welcome to the Forum An internet search may give more information particularly the US sites Your BMW Dealer may not have seen it but that doesn't mean its not there. I have also read that the new cars when plugged into the Dealers system now have to be linked to BMW Gmbh They really don't make it easy do they, Technology is great until it stops πŸ˜… Hope they can sort it with a software upgrade or something simple so you can enjoy your car again (sneaking around in silent mode🀣) Dave
  5. You are welcome Danny A BMW Dealer will not repair anything, they just change components at the Customers expense and no regard for cost I would use a BMW Vin Decoder site put the Vin number in and you should get the original build sheet Look at the list of Codes S676A is the basic Hi Fi system S688A is Harmon Kardon S6F1A is Bowers & Wilkins. Then you will know the starting point and will be able to make choices on how you move forward. BMW Designers are good at hiding components in places where they can get flooded, several models over the years have had Nav/Audio in the boot buried under the floor. Plus many of those models had a boot that could become a swimming pool if a seal was damaged or failed so moving your amp out of the danger zone makes sense. As you had the 40 amp fuses melted check the speakers as well as they may have been overloaded For service, help and knowledge there is a Register of BMW Specialists you should find more than one near you most are BMW trained they will have the equipment and Knowledge (one near me specialises in BMW/Porsche) yet is still less than half Dealer labour rates. One of those or an Audio Specialist would be on my list if I couldn't do the job myself. Good Luck Dave
  6. Hi Danny Welcome to the Forum I thought the Amp would be Harmen Becker or Harman Kardon may be Bowers & Wilkins (High end stuff) if it was OEM ? The concern I would have is why the fuses were really, well fused to do that to 40 amp fuses isn't good news. I would have an Audio Specialist look at it if you can't sort it yourself. Take a look at www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will bring up your model the check the Audio section to see what should be there. Then look at what to fix or change Dave
  7. Absolutely correct my E53 runs 9.5 x 20 Front and 10.5 x 20 Rear and the E70 is as yo say 10 x 20 Front 11 x 20 Rear. Not really necessary on a 4x4 but BMW Designers like the looks 🀣🀣 ( and so do I) Hope you found what you needed Dave
  8. Morning Donna Has the pump always been like this or has it come on over time? I think I would check the voltage at the Pump connectors so you can compare front and rear perhaps swap the connectors. If the pump action changes when the connector is swapped then the wiring needs checking and the connector needs cleaning with a good electrical contact cleaner. Dave
  9. Morning Terry Welcome to the Forum Are they BMW OEM or After Market ? If they are after market then check load capacity (I have read of cracking) and off set to clear callipers, you say 20" x 5 ? Is that studs I hope not width ? or are you looking for a spacer saver spare? If so don't forget the Jack and wheel brace (I know a few who have πŸ˜‚) If you aren't aware check www.realoem.com it is a BMW online parts website put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box then check the wheels/tyres section you will get all wheel sizes including off set Hope this helps Dave
  10. Great feedback Richard I am afraid all cars are becoming gimmicky the designers need to understand that because a Microchip has the capacity you don't need to use it !! As you say some good but an awful lot irrelevant being an old bloke even when I got the 4.6is X5 (2003) it had a reverse camera and sensors. Being my age and having spent many years turning and looking when reversing I had owned the car a fair while when reversing one day a passenger said "thats cool" you have a camera why don't you use it ? The current X5 has camera's and when parking/reversing I still turn to look where I am going πŸ˜… Just stop using the bit's you don't need Most important though ENJOY your Beemer Dave
  11. Knowing the Brake are going to work and the tyres are going to point you where you aimed plus stop you is always a big PLUS 🀣 Now you can drive it like you stole it with confidence 🀣 EHJOY Dave
  12. Hi Donna Welcome to the Forum You have changed just about everything so not much left Is the squirt strong or weak ? When the pump was changed was the filter cleaned or changed ? That leaves either a loose connection (can you hear the pump when it stops squirting) or a Kink in the hose Hope this helps Dave
  13. Morning Ross I would start by checking that all injectors are OK, seated properly and fixed down at the correct torque. If there are no injector or glow plug issues then the valve train needs investigation could be a lifter sticking or a Vanos issue. Dave
  14. You haven't given much away here ? But Welcome to the Forum anyway I know there have been a number of recalls since 2020, here I am assuming (dangerous) that all yours are up to date ? I have read of several incidents of SME faults 21F21F seems one of the most common with PHEV. Why BMW seem to deny there are issues I just don't understand. Check the US sites they may have more information due to Class Actions in the USA manufacturers tend to move faster with fixes and Recalls Good Luck Dave
  15. Morning Shawn Take a look at www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box, it will call up your model then search the Body and Trim sections You should find what you need there, once you have the part and it's part number then you can search for the best price for a replacement Dave
  16. Hi Paul Carpets are a "Touch and Feel" purchase in my mind for my wife's Subaru I had a local Carpet fitter make up a set. He did a great job all edges taped and stitched and the non slip pads on the back he was able to get the car mats out of off cuts (Contract quality Wilton in Beige). He charged around half the cost of Subaru direct might be worth tracking down a fitter and asking Another thought are Guys like Quarry Motors but again you would be buying unseen but at least they know what OEM BMW mats are. Dave
  17. Morning Hans If the fault is EWS or CAS related I think you need to read up on resetting/resyncing the Key/EWS/CAS or if your diagnostics are up to it re-programming them. As you have a donor nearby maybe take the EWS and Keys ? Fingers crossed it is fairly simple and a reset works Dave
  18. Morning Rich First is the wireless charger OEM or aftermarket ? Second is your phone compatible with the charger? (it seems not) I only know 1 person (our son inlaw) who uses wireless charging he is an Apple user and the system in his 3 series is OEM he has no issues Dave
  19. Morning Shawn Welcome to the Forum Lucky son 😁 Even Dealers technicians (they don't call them mechanics anymore so they can charge more 🀣) can be clumsy rock apes at times. With the Xdrive cars correct sized tyres are essential to protect the Xdrive transfer case, diffs etc Hope your boy appreciates his car Dave
  20. Morning Rich Welcome to the Forum Enjoy your Beemer If I am right your model was in a change over period so could be G21 or F31. If you look at www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will call up your model. The site is a BMW parts site as used by Dealers so really useful if buying parts and seeing where they fit. Again you can use a BMW Vin Decoder to check your cars original build sheet. Hope this is helpful Dave
  21. Afternoon Darren Just your BMW telling you that you needed a Dealers help πŸ˜… Or hoping to scare you into their arms Try a Parking Brake reset, as you only changed pads a Soft Reset should work Turn on the ignition. Hold down the parking sensor button for 3-5 seconds until you hear a beep. Release the button, and the system will reset Hope that does it for you Dave
  22. Morning Hans Having a Parts car close by is a major win (providing it hasn't got the same issue 😁) The rev counter gets a signal from the DDE which gets signals from the CPS FPS and Cam sensors the sensor only needs to be loose or a degree out, Test it and or change it (but test the replacement first) As you're so far away I would either get the car transported (my preference), or go ready for anything. That means at least 1 fully charged battery/booster pack. Start with a full scan (INPA/ISTA will show all faults for each system) check all sensors MAF, MAP, TBPS, FPS, CPS. Cam sensors test continuity on the loom for coil packs and injectors. Check/change the fuel pump relay. From your description you say no fuel or spark, all the above will have an effect there. If all those are OK then you are back to the Hope this helps Dave As an after thought make sure the fuel filter isn't clogged. Plus check out the EWS fault you half saw
  23. Afternoon Hans Welcome to the Forum I would start with a Diagnostic Scan but then I do have ISTA/INPA on my lap top. Without it I would start by testing the sensors that will effect fuel and spark. Number one Crank position sensor if it is faulty no signal to the DME no signal to the injectors. While testing sensors Fuel Pressure sensor next, while the fuel rail is pressurised is it correct if the pressure sensor is dead the DME will assume no fuel present. Also carefully check the loom to injectors and coil packs not unknown for it to be damaged. Try a Google search for test parameters for the sensors. Also check engine earth straps Hope this helps Dave
  24. Morning Robin Welcome to the Forum By the sound of things you need a coil over kit for standard ride height with adjustable shocks. Playing with bump and rebound settings should allow a more supple ride, though wheels and tyres are a big part of the overall equation. Bilstien are a well established reliable name that has been around for years so if the kit has been developed for the car should be a good choice, lots of other kits out there with a wild price range but personally suspension tyres and brakes really are not worth cutting corners with. Dave
  25. Morning Rob Welcome to the Forum As with most cars in reasonable condition and with an MOT it is worth the market value, check the Auction sites and local adds. Without an MOT it is scrap value as it can't be driven some recyclers may even charge to collect it. Reading your post it seems like you have already made a decision. Personally I would fix it and sell it or maybe carry on using it but then I do all my own maintenance on our cars and its a hobby not a chore Dave
