Hi

Last post i stated that car would not start. This was due to poor compression, so we filled the pots with oil over and over and 18 spark plugs later if started.

The car now is a ##### to restart and back fires trying. Ticks over well enough but when you switch it off it is hard to start and again back fires.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Tim

Crank sensor, Throttle Position sensor or Cam sensor... One or more of those matey ;)

Crank sensor or throttle sensor dude

As stated above, those need checking first. What car is it? The E24 6 series?

Daz

Well spotted Daz... If it is pre-92 then it may not have one or more of these sensors. If that is the case then it will most deffo be physical engine/ignition timing.

Shouldn't need to worry to much about the top/bottom end timing as if my memory serves me correctly, the M30 is chain-driven. Have a good look at the distributor...

Whats a distributor? ;)
