  1. Hi guys, Anyone know why I have cold air coming in through dash through vent under heater controls in front of gear stick? It's not from the heater blower, only comes in when driving resulting in the car not being very pleasant to drive as heater can't keep the car warm inside Any help greatly appreciated
  2. Had same problem with my 1984 635csi Turned out to be ecu giving wrong signals to airflow meter. Sent unit to BBA REMAN and had it repaired That was after changing a whole load of parts
  3. Hi guys, not been on in a while, what a time I've had with the six! My dad bought the car in 2005 with the intention of restoring it, I then trailered it 300 miles north to my garage in March 2013, had it painted, rebuilt all the bumpers and stuff on a tight budget. Had the car motd, taxed it, added it to my insurance drove it to Glasgow on the Friday night, then to Birmingham on the Saturday for the classic car show, back to Glasgow on the Saturday night then back home to wick on the Sunday. It ran like a Swiss watch, never missed a beat and our only breakdown was a headlight bulb that had to be replaced at a service station. Got it home and received a letter from the insurance company to let me know that the car I had spent years and thousands of pounds on was registered as a CAT B WRITE OFF IN 1997!!!!!!!!!! So I have just spent the last 8 months trying to get it sorted out. As you can imagine it is a lot to put into words but to cut a very long story short I never took no for an answer and got it changed and now it's back on my insurance, now I just have to convince the wife to tax it again and I'll get using it again
  4. believe me the time i have put into this car it not getting scrapped it owes me!!! ha ha won't be concours but will be respectable. would love to have it ready to go on road trip to classic car show in birmingham in november but don't think it going to happen.
  5. Hi guys, got the 6 running fine now and keeping it dry! i'm only needing a few bits to get this thing looking pretty good i know the following parts are hard to get so are expensive but my budget is getting pretty tight lol. i require: : gutter trims from around top of side windows (both sides) : o/s/f chrome bumper trim and rubber end cap. : chrome surrounds for windscreen and rear window. : kidney grills for nose cone : and lastly i'll need any chrome joint clips that hide the joins in the trim i hope someone can help me i'd like to get this car done as it's actually my dads and he thinks it's still at the bodyshop. (he lives 300 miles from me) i also have a a couple of ecu's and 2 sets of wing mirrors if anyone needs them. cheers
  6. Hi jack, thanks for the reply. I'll try not to bore you with my story, keep it short as i can. car comes back from the paintshop, won't start, no spark, checked all the usual suspects, coil and relays etc etc, searched the net, found how to test the reference sensor and the speed sensor, both checked out o.k. called bodyshop, he then tells me the car sat outside for a few weeks because he had no space (now he tells me). removed ecu from under the steering column, FULL of water!!! made a few phone calls to company's who deal with ecu's. mega money! removed cover, put in airing cupboard overnight, fitted to car today and it fired up!! only on 3 or 4 cylinders. removed plugs and all were wet with fuel, so dryed them out, gave them a quick scrub with a wire brush refitted them and it's running like a dream! it's in my garage now, it'll be kept dry until i get the sunroof drains cleaned out and i think i'll put a new windscreen in it. thanks again for your help, i'm off to get a lottery ticket lol. Davie
  7. o.k cancel that guys, seems like the wires from this sensor go to the diagnostic plug, can anyone tell me how to test the crank sensor? thanks
  8. Hi guys, Hoping i can get some help here, I am restoring an 84 635csi and it won't start, the car has just came back from the paint shop, it was running when it went in but won't start now. Started checking it out today and i have noticed that the crank sensor at the pulley is not plugged in! my problem is that i can't find where it plugs into and the other thing is there is no plug on the end just 2 wires (black and yellow i think). i'm wondering if someone could post a picture of where this plugs into, to at least give me some idea of where to start looking. Thanks
