I have just purchased a 1995 mint e36 318 convertible. Problem is the guy didn't use the roof over the winter and when he tried to it did nothing! I got it at a v good price so not too bad but any ideas what it is most likely to be? No noises movement...... Nothing :-(

Have you checked wiring to motor?

Or fuse?

change the actuation switch first as this is the usual culprit. same happened on mine £15 on ebay and easy to change 5 minute job

I have just found the same problem with my own bmw 318 . . can you use the emergency lever under rear seat . . its either that or the motor has come adrift due to not being used as often . . mine worked after I did this . . youtube has the right answers for this problem
