Original thread gone so just like to thank all who gave their advice. It was the crank shaft sensor, Daz-H I bow before you and your knowledge, and nothing to do with shunt I had the day before. Happy to say sensor was the ONLY fault showing on my 17 year old e36 so not to bad for its age

Mechanism goes all the way up and down and closes its just not air tight as you can hear wind as driving

Just replaced the front passenger window in my '94 vert and it doesn't come up as far as the old window. Problem is glass sits level with rear window and it should sit 1/4 inch above to make proper seal with roof. Does anyone know how to adjust the winder height if its at all possibl

When I joined the bmwoc I posted about a charity car show in sittingbourne. The show is this Monday 26 gates open from 9 if any members interested all proceeds go to help 4 heroes. The venue is sittingbourne greyhound racetrack

If you've had to pull the roof release lever to put up the roof either due to switch or battery failure you'll be reading the manual to find out how to reconnect the motors and re-sync the roof so all works only to see "MUST BE DONE BY MAIN DEALER" well here is a money saving guide as its very a simple job. 1) fold roof down into roof hatch and push down on cover to release the safety catch that stops boot opening (easier with help) when roof hatch open.the motors are situated behind the left hand side of boot (passenger side). Remove the lining by popping the clips out with a flat head screwdriver. 2) The motors are spring loaded so will have to be pushed back up into place they are quite robust so don't be afraid to use a bit of force. When you hear a load click the motors are in place 1 drives the hatch cover the other the roof itself 3) now for the good bit. with the ignition in the off position press down the actuation switch into the raise position and hatch cover will be locked down, make sure your watching the cover, once its down turn key 1 notch into the ancillary position as the roof starts to raise this will re sync all the motors hold down switch until roof is completely raised. Raise and lower roof a couple of times to check all is working as it should if not pull lever to release motors and repeat until all ok. once is usually all it takes if procedure followed to the letter

change the actuation switch first as this is the usual culprit. same happened on mine ÂŁ15 on ebay and easy to change 5 minute job

whats mods mmm so far 1) lowered 2) uprated I.C.E (t.v dvd dvd/cd changer and games consuls) 3) 18"x 8 with low profile rubber 4) RAMAIR cold air induction kit. 5) full scorpion stainless exhaust 6) U.S spec M3 cams and valves. 7) uprated lights wiyh angel eyes and h i d bulbs, can even make a cup of tea/coffee, attachment plugs into ciggy lighter mods in pipeline is either supercharger( no horrible turbo lag) or nitro kit, carbon fibre bonnet, wings and E46 csl carbon boot and csl front bumper and carbon fibre dtm style rear wing is this to much on one E36

The event organizer is a friend of mine and date is comfirmed as AUGUST 26. Event is advertized on faceache as KENT CHROME AND CRUISERS if you want to check out the pics of last years event. Already got 325 confirmed attendies for this year.

testing the water here, i like attending car shows and showing of the fruits of my labour as i'm sure most if not all of us here in BMWOC land do. in August usually bank holiday weekend at the Sittingbourne greyhound track- i'll put up address nearer time if enough interest- i attend a car show that gives all procedes to various charities to help out ex-squaddies, being one myself i support this show. this show attracts every thing from moped clubs to motorcycles and cars of all vintages this year even had a top fuel dragster doing burnout to crowds of petrol heads of all ages. its a fun family day out with an auto jumble for the things you mite need, the organizers even put on bands and entertainment for kids

the drives are in the boot behind the lining, just push back up till they click back into position. to reset fold roof into hatch before connecting the drive and with windows up hold down the roof actuation switch(raise position) until roof is fully up and this should syncro the mechanism. hope this helps
