Hi, I have a 318i Se tourer auto, the dash cog on the display has come on and seems to be in limp mode when it drops down in to low gears, drives ok after that and at speed, but any ideas what need fixing please, mobile mechanic came, but hasn't come back to me?????He thought it was gearbox sensor as displays didn't show P or N in gears.

    Without knowing the fault code it is hard to fault find online,maybe taking it to a gearbox spec center,if its a sensor it may not be too expensive

    Hi Mark, as you have no gear display then I would suspect the Gearbox ECU and/or it's wiring. Just check the fluid quality and level too !
