Lowering is the way forward (or down ;) )

I love lowered cars, lower the better in my opinion.

Currently my E46 saloon's lowest point is 2.5 inches from the ground..but that is a little extreme!!

Gav the floor hugger

welcome mate.lookout for suspension bushes, rusty arches and on early e46's the the rear subframes can be a problem if the car has had a hard life.basically it rips the car to bits

a remap on one of these will do little for economy mate.remaps generally work better and give greater gains on diesel cars.you may get an extra couple of miles per gallon extra and about 15 to 20 bhp more....if you want good mpg go for a 320d mate

Ah you guys are making this hard :D

I want the Ci because it looks better and is faster.

But I'm not the richest bloke and the 320d will go miles further, won't look as good but with a bit of money will go just as fast as a 325? :D

Very tempted by the 320d :D

A diesel will out perform a petrol in some situations, however overall they will not out perform a petrol in performance, how many miles a year do you do? If less than 13k you will struggle to see the financial benifits over buying a diesel compared to the higher purchase price

Is that the strange looking 3door diesel ?

Not sure on it yet :)

I'm very much leaning towards diesel + remap

I do about 12k a year. But work is 20mes away and it's urban, so the extra 10/15 mpg id get would help.

We are not going down the petrol vs diesel conversation in a constructive manner! Drive both petrol and diesel, doing that sort of mileage using today prices a diesel would be about 437.28 a year cheaper to fuel, with diesel cars commanding more money than petrol 2nd hand,i would prefer to buy a higher spec lower miles petrol rather than the higher miles diesel.

Ok ill be sensible.

Also add less tax and insurance.

I own a petrol and Diesel car, and also just brought another petrol.

Diesels don't sound or smell as good as petrol cars, but with the addition of the turbo they create greater power to the equivalent petrol engines, for less cost.

Diesels are also more reliable, but also more expensive when they go wrong.

And both come in the same shapes and sizes.

I think with my current situation the Diesel is the way for me to go.

Get it sorted with a remap and lowering and I think il be happy.

Just need to find me a nice 320 diesel coupe now :)
