hi everyone im a new bmw owner i have come from the astra owners net work

i am 19 and just got my 1st bmw x5 2003 in black with cream leather and full sat-nav

since i got it the radio will play for about 5 seconds then it will mute then 10seconds later it will start then stop has any member on here had this problem?? any answers will be appreciated

hi mate welcome to the club from fellow X5 owner i have the 4.6is carbon black with cream the best colour combo i think not had that prob with radio however when start car radio comes on then about 30 seconds later it bleeps and pauses for a second then goes back to being on

Welcome Jamie, If you bought the car from a dealer I would take it back, has this only just started or was it a fault when you buy the car, if not bought from a dealer I would contact the last owner to come to some kind of agreement, hope you get it resolved, good luck. :D

bigal i got it from the autotrader and no it worked fine all the way home then the next morning it started playing up i cant take it back as a got it a trade price with no warranty with it other wise i would of done that mate

I would check to see if there is any loose wiring, all the settings on the stereo are ok, such as timed fading or muting, otherwise would take to an auto electrician, may be something simple as a heat sensor on the stereo is kicking in because the unit is getting hot, good luck :D

Hi Jamie, Welcome to the Nut-House...

Take the unit out to see if there has been a phone kit plugged in, because the phone kit may have been torn out at some stage, leaving bare wires etc... Just a thought !
