I haven't seen many X1s on the road, and I can understand peoples reasons why they wouldn't want one, but surely I can't be the only X1 owner (in 18 days and counting) that is on the site? Surely?

Lol. I'd love to be the only one, I. Make my purpose in life to be different and then go buy a E46. Make the most of it mate.

Crap TBH, never will beat the market... But they try to expand into areas they cannot compete...

Dabsy is right, the X3 X6 and X1 never will sell in loads because it is not an established market, However for the job that they do which is a small compact 4wd it’s a cracking little car. I have driven a couple and it was a pleasant place to be

so is my local lapdancing bar but i wouldnt want anyone to know i go there

I have ordered my X1 today, M Sport in black with privacy glass, apart from that all standard.

Theres a 3-4 month wait as its being built in the USA.

My question is, why has BMW only mapped the m-sport at 143bhp? and where can i get it remapped to 184bhp (seeing as its the same engine but mapped differently to the 20D. The sales rep said id have to take it to a remap specialist.

Hi, if your after increasing the power then check out DMS AUTOMOTIVE, they do a mint

Job remapping engines

Car manufacturers have to use similar maps for each model in each range, to alter each one would create a massive waiting list and they'd have to stick an "Individual" badge on the suspension turret !! :P :D

The problem lies in the fact that all new cars have to undergo 'Type Approval', and part of this is getting the car through the 'Urban Driving Cycle' tests. Remote from European driving conditions as they are (the tests are based on a simulated trip around Los Angeles with the resulting noxious gases collected in a bag for testing), car manufacturers had no option but to comply. In order to meet the stringent requirements, engines are virtually detuned to pass the test. As a result the car never performs as well as its mechanically controlled counterpart, with hesitancy and flat spots thrown in for good measure. This leaves masses of room for a creative engineer to re-tune for vastly improved performance, and without infringing any emissions regulations.
