Your are correct, I must do a disclaimer here.

This was conducted on my privately own peace of road, which the road traffic act does not apply.

And even if it did, I would just ignore it and get on with my life

I was getting a shade over 30mpg until around Christmas and I'm now getting around 27. This is a mix of A road and dual carriage ways and I measure it be calculating the fuel taken to brim the tank against the mileage that covered.

Car is a 2004 330ci and replaces my temporary Lexus is200. Funnily enough getting the same mileage despite having 50% larger capacity, 50% more power and 100% more enjoyment.

cheers

I managed to stick to 70 for a short period yesterday. The car was showing 34 mpg, the only trouble is I can't stick to 70 for long. The 328 has done 134,000 miles, never gets serviced, rarely gets an oil change and is generally abused by my right foot. Despite all this it will still go off the clock and accelerates like a cruise missile. What a !Removed! car,who said BMW's are expensive to maintain?

The computer on my 323 is saying 24.1mpg. I can't really say what im getting though as ive only put petrol in it once so most of that will be what the previous owner was getting. I can keep the economy needle around 30mpg if I drive carefully though

Why do I only get 19.4mpg? :( To be fair I am stuck in traffic most of the time :/ but even when I'm not (and try to drive economically) I struggle to keep it above 26mpg unless I'm on the motorway. :'(

After servicing my E36 323i auto ive seen a huge increase in fuel economy which really does go to show that maintenance pays.

Before

Town driving = 19mpg

Town and rural roads = 26mpg

Motorway - 32mpg

After

Town driving = 24mpg

Town and rural roads = 34mpg

Motorway = 45mpg

She feels quicker as well.
