  1. I know I have put over 80-85 litres in mine after it showed a lot more than single figures left! I wouldn't try to run it further down tho, it's too !Removed! heavy to push! :)
  2. I hope you enjoy your first Bimmer as much as I did. The only trouble is - once you've experienced the sheer "smile factor" it'll give you - you will never find anything else comes up to scratch. However, that's easily rectified by buying another one! :)
  3. Wouldn't be a click if it was the O/S shaft support bearing on the way out would there?
  4. Interesting that you mentioned "Also had a similar vibration going around a round a bout". That would indicate to me that it's most likely one of the driveshaft joints, probably outer. Does it do the same going in an anti-clockwise direction? If it doesn't then probably going to be the outer drivers side shaft joint. :)
  5. I average 30mpg with pretty mixed driving conditions. Not bad for a 2½ ton beastie I think? It loves motorway driving at steady speeds but stop-start slaughters the mpg!
  6. Forgot to mention that the reason they flicker is because LED's react many times quicker than standard bulbs which also flicker when tested but so slowly you don't notice them do it! :)
  7. Hi Harry, it's not a major problem fitting LED lights or replacing standard bulbs with LED versions as long as they state "CANBUS ERROR FREE" on them. Yes they will flicker when you put the ignition on but that's due to the inbuilt checking system which sends several short test pulses of electric through lights etc to check the circuit is good (e.g. Not blown bulb). I've got a lot of LED replacements on my X5 and it actually looks cool at night when you turn the ignition on! Like the car is trying to communicate with Morse Code LOL! :)
  8. Take a look at this post, explains most of what you need to know I think? :) http://www.bmwownersclub.com/forums/topic/8944-aux-heating-programming/
  9. Thank You everyone for the Birthday wishes - 59 years old today! What the hell happened to the last 50 years? I distinctly remember being 9 years old then wooooosh - here I am! The worlds first living proof of Time Travel LOL! :) :)

      Happy Birthday!! :D

  10. I think what you're hearing is possibly your webasto auxiliary heater, only gets fired up in very cold weather to assist the diesel engine heat up the water temp quicker. Sometimes you'll see the exhaust fumes from it coming from under the sill of the passenger door?
  11. I did the same thing and it was a spiked ECU - jump starting improperly is a common cause of this I believe?
  12. I have the following:- A black sapphire BMW X5 3.0d Sport A Peugeot Boxer coachbuilt motorhome (because BMW don't do a chassis cab! WHY?) :) Nightshifty.
  13. Hi Mate, Type this number into eBay search and have a look - 160762865388 They are rated 6000K - pretty bright angel eyes LED replacement bulbs. I use these and am very pleased with the result.
  14. Black e53 X5 3.0d 5 Months down the line now and still loving every minute I drive in it! Horrible squeaking from the rear suspension somewhere but not a "nasty" squeak, more of a high pitched rubber sort of squeak. I've drenched all the rubber bushes I can find in silicone spray so we'll see next time I take it out. Don't really notice it except when in an enclosed space e.g. multi storey car perks where it echo's. A bit embarrassing but I don't mind that. I love the way it can surprise the boy racers (and me!) when you ask it too! For a big car and a diesel to boot it can fairly shift. Is there any way I can tell if it's been remapped as it is WAY quicker 0 to 60 than the book figures say?
  15. Ign must be on. Once you've selected reverse, put it in neutral, or just push the button on the dash to activate the parking sensors. It stays on until you drive off then shuts off automatically - or you can switch it off on the dash button again.
  16. If you're lucky! After replacing 2 rear one's on mine I found another one on the front faulty as well! But then I'm just lucky like that I suppose! :(((
  17. Well that's just over a month gone by since I got the X5. Just delighted so far! Typical Beamer comfort on very long journeys - makes you want to go back and do it all again! :) Any recommendations to improve the dipped lights, they're not exactly sharp on a dark rainy black top? Has standard halogen type lamps btw. Oh and I wasn't chastising the Pearl Dabsy - I loved every 7 series I had - just living in the Highlands in the winter snow it was better left at home is all. Combination of tyres too wide and rear wheel drive meant it tended to just sit still in any depth of snow!
  18. Damned fuel prices have gone up again! Arrrggghhh!

  19. Just gone from an o5 plate Merc ML270 special edition to a 55 plate black X5 3.0d Sport. The difference is like night and day! I have to say that the ML is probably more suited to off roading but for looks and road performance the X5 is way ahead. Had a few little niggles - parking sensors not working - door mirrors won't stay folded in when parked - needs new CD changer. However it's all being sorted under the guarantee so no worries. Only ever had 7 series beamers before and they were useless in snow or ice - hope this beastie is a lot better! :) We shall see.............
  20. Thanky you everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday - no keeping it a secret now eh? LOL :))) (57 years young today)
