  1. After a fairly short love affair with my X5, it's had to go! Too many niggling little issues for a 2.5 year old car (although probably due to the longest list of optional extras ever seen!!) that resulted in having to deal with the most arrogant, unhelpful, up their own a%*e's dealership ever (d1ck Lovett of Bristol)! As much as I liked the car itself, having to deal with these tos$ers was too much to bear - being accused of damaging parts and then being threatened with them not being replaced under warranty, receiving texts about the progress of the work rather than a phone call while my car was in their workshop & car coming out of their workshop with a scrapped front bumper that it didn't have when it went in, to name but a few of the issues! While I live in an area that means these tw^ts are my local dealer, I will never buying another beemer i'm afraid! Oh well, the Audi (don't hate me, blame the BM dealer!) dealer welcomed me back with open arms - just a shame I have to wait until March for my new car but at least I know i'll be treated as a valued customer when it arrives! Bye all, keep loving those beemers!
  2. I don't know about the timer function as i don't use that but i have a couple of remotes for the Auxilary heater on mine but they don't seem to work (I've tried replacing the batteries)?!
  3. Hi guys. My X5 has the factory fitted rear-seat entertainment system (screen mounted to rear of front armrest and DVD player mounted below) and I'm having an issue with the DVD player. It only reads some of my copied DVDs and causes much anguish for my daughter when she wants to read one that it doesn't read! They are all the same brand DVD-R's, copied on the same computer, using the same software, so in theory they should all work (or not). My local BMW dealer are being their usual arrogant selves and will not offer any decent level of service what so ever by way of at least trying to offer some advice! So I've been asking around and done a bit of research on the good old internet and I think that it is to do with the coding/formatting of the original disc and that some contain something that is not liked by the BMW DVD player (never had such issues with my Audi system - please don't hate me for "swearing", it's the lack of support from my dealer that drives to saying such things!). Anyway, does anybody know of some software that can be used to copy the discs that are proving troublesome in to a different format which might work? Thank you.
  4. Ok, I've decided that the LEDs aren't that great! I'm sure i've seen some of the H8 "complete" Xenon kits for sale somewhere, anybody have any recommendations? Cheers! :)
  5. Thanks guys for your replies. Cheers for the offer Christian but I replaced them a couple weeks back. Purchased some H8 LEDs for £70, so not cheap and not totally convinced about the result to be honest! The inner ring (which the bulb fits directly into) is fine but there doesn't seem to be enough light making it's way to the outer ring, so in daylight the oter rings appear to be barely illuminated. While this is better than having the yellowish illumination of the standard halogen bulbs, when you see a later BMW with the factory fit xenon/led angel eyes they look considerably better than the after-market LED option. They look ok at night though, as the dipped-beam xenon is in the outer ring, so that either helps to make the ring look illuminated or draws your attention away from the fact that it's not very well illuminated.
  6. Hi Andy, you've probably got it sorted by now but I found (as others have said there are many different factors for incurance so I'm sure although not for me, may be the best option for others) Adrian Flux (like most other insurers) rather pricey! I did the usual shopping around of comarison sites, along with the ones who aren't on the comparison sites (RBS Group companies, Aviva etc) and the best quote I had was over £900. Just when I'd resigned to that being the figure I was going to have to pay I tried one final RBS group company, Direct Line, and got it for just over £500 - almost a bargain! ;)
  7. As requested, some feedback after a couple weeks of driving with the Bluefin on my X5: the power gains are definately noticable. There's a hill in Devon that I go up regularly and the X5 just munches it like it isn't there, I really was extremely impressed with the performance on this hill! Throttle response also seems to be improved, most noticably at lower speeds. I'm sure fuel economy has improved too. On a run I get over 30mpg, driving no differently to how I usually would (i.e. not strictly abiding by every speed limit :D ) . Unfortunately I'd only taken the car on 1 decent run prior to installing the Bluefin (I've only had the car just over 3 weeks) and as it was so new to me I didn't really worry about the MPG on that occassion I'd have been surprised if I managed to get 30mpg out of it. Anyway, sorry it's not very technical but to summarise - I'd recommend it, power delivery is more intense and driving is therefore more fun!
  8. Thanks all. *Christian: The front overhead console I managed to just pull down (which is not how it says in the manual but I couldn't do it they way they say). As for the rear high mounted lights, I haven't done those yet - can't get the light units down! I'll be getting my auto-electrician mate to have a look at them for me when he comes out (hopefully this week) to hard-wire my speed-camera detector in!
  9. Of course I will. I'll update next week after this weekends trip.
  10. No, not yet - I'm hopping that Superchips are a nice bunch of honest guys and that I have somewhere near the figures they quote!
  11. Hello everyone. I've been very fortunate and managed to find myself a superply specced, pre-owned, X5 xdrive35d MSport. It's only early days (i've not had the car a week yet) but am already loving it!! I've already made a couple posts, so you may have noticed that I like to "tinker" - have remapped it already, have replaced all the interior bulbs with LEDs and am looking to upgrade the angel-eyes very soon (the bulbs are on their way)! Looking forward to a very happy relationship with car and all you guys here on bmwownersclub.com Regards to all. Jade.
  12. Received and installed my Bluefin remap today - now have 339bhp (was 284) and 664NM (was 580) at my disposal! :D Hopefully it'll improve MPG a little also! Looking forward to trying it out on a long run down to Cornwall at the weekend!!
  13. Hi guys. Is it possible, and if so relatively easy to, upgrade the yellowish angel-eyes to the blue-white ones? Cheers. :)
  14. Hi Dabsy. There's about a year and half left on manufacturers warranty. Any thoughts on the Superchips Bluefin? Cheers.
  15. Thanks for the reply Jack. So these are all definately gimmicks? The ones I've been looking at, although not cheap, are less expensive than a remap. What appealed to me though was the fact the boxes can be easily removed when the car goes into the garage - especially as mine will be under manufacturers warranty. What about a Superchips Bluefin? Cheers.
