BRAKE WARNING lamp ! Check brake fluid level

Obvious things to check Handbrake, is it partially on? Does the lamp go out if the engine is started ? What is the warning between the 2 arrows bottom of the dash ? If the Brake fluid is low you have a leak somewhere get it sorted quickly

Dave

I think it can also mean excessive wear on pads?

thanks  to you both for your reply ,have checked fluid level  was slightly down topped it to its correct level light still on, brake pads dont look to bad but will jack car and visually check with wheels removed.

Would the brake pad wear light be yellow and not red?
if the pads are ok, as greydog  said, check the wires. If you short them out... ie connect them, the light should extinguish, telling you it’s the wear sensors.
