  2. Morning Jon The main reason I moved away from run flats with the X5 E70 was tyre choice, with my E53 X5 I had plenty of practice. I learned that the recommended Star marked tyres were (a) not necessarily easy to get (often on back order) (b) They were also very premium priced (as you know) I started using Bridgestone and Hankook and found that they were as well matched in a staggered set as the Star marked tyres so no transmission damage. I brought the E70 to cut the miles going onto the other X5 and quickly moved it onto Hankook non run flats a set of 4 285x40x20 Front and 315x35x20 rear was just under £800. In my breakdown kit I have as said a small compressor a can of tyre weld (or similar) and a tyre plug set. I have used it a couple of times a friend of my wife has a Volvo V60 on run flats she ran over a screw one of the plugs fixed it and stayed fixed until she needed tyres. My son inlaw suffered pot hole damage to his 330e when visiting us, a can of Tyre weld got him from Sussex back to the West Midlands where they live. When he went to the tyre shop they said "shouldn't use that stuff mate we cant repair tyres that have it in" well with 2 splits in the inner side wall it was a new tyre anyway but at least he could drive 190 miles and not be stuck overnight waiting for somewhere to open. If there is a puddle I slow right down or go around if I can because in sunny Sussex it will be a Pot Hole I would go with a repair/limp kit like mine and fingers crossed the roads on the continent are in better nick than ours As an aside our son inlaw started a claim against the county council it took ages to get a resolution they wanted to know how many miles the tyre had covered ? then how old was it then said as it was a used item they couldn't offer full value !!!! An invitation to appear on Rogue Traders finally got through Dave
  3. Morning Kiernan Welcome to the Forum Something in the clutch is wearing or loose and will need investigation would be my guess Gearbox out job to repair Dave

  5. Hi Dave, I’ve actually gone for EBC grooved discs with yellowstuff pads. Just thought it would look a little beefier whilst still benefitting from good performance and longevity. Stu👍
  6. Hi Kor Welcome to the Forum As your under an extended Warranty fingers crossed it will be plain sailing and fixed Keep us up to date Dave

  8. Morning Damion I would say yes to the software update (but a Dealer will charge £££) this should be in iDrive try My Vehicle, Vehicle Settings, Doors/Key, then scroll down to mirrors and check Fold Mirrors when Locked If that doesn't work you need help from someone with a BMW capable diagnostic package (ISTA/INPA) to check if it is in a hidden menu. Be aware BMW are making it harder and harder to tinker with the cars mainly after 2019 year so you should be OK Dave
  9. Morning Rob His was in the car when he brought it and is OEM (car is BMW 330e 2019) apparently works well with his iPhone but not with our daughters Android phone. You could talk to your Dealer but make sure your wallet is in a protected spot 😁 as I have know idea of cost ££££. If BMW are fitting them then there will be Retro fit kits out there from the Far east so worth looking at the Auction sites but I have no knowledge of quality other than the screen in the X5 failed and I replaced it with a complete Android unit from Ebay at less than a 1/3rd of the BMW quote. Truly plug and play allows switching between the OEM CiC and Android gives better GPS and many other programs and has been totally reliable for the last 3 years (that's killed it ) Me I don't spend long enough in the car for my phone to need charging these days 😅 While the X5 has Android Auto and Carplay I have to say like a lot of gadgets they are rarely used. Bluetooth is the only thing I see as an essential Good Luck with the search for a solution Dave
  10. Hi Richard Welcome to the Forum Sounds like BMW have decided you shouldn't go near any dirt or mud in your 220i Touring 🤣 That leaves little choice really. have you thought of checking Mud Flaps from either the 1 series or 3 series cars it may be they can be modified to fit ? If not it means the after market accessories have you Googled to see what if anything comes up Good Luck with the search Dave

  12. Morning John Welcome to the Forum I believe you should be able to change that in the iDrive menu. Unless you have an import from Japan then it could get more complicated Dave
  13. Hi. That start/stop ignition button never turns off. Same with the P when parked. I will check the mini fuses on the car. I even added some not in fuse box. I will look for gear and brake fuse. On diagram and #. Thanks
  14. Hello fellow BMW enthusiast, I'm looking to purchase a 2015 650i xdrive with 70K kms. I understand I'll need to hold some cash back for maintenance/repairs and have another car if it needs to be in the shop. I don't have a garage so I won't be servicing it myself. Anything I should be looking for before I buy and is this even a good idea? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Geoff
  15. Hi Paul Last set for the X5 were from Euro Car Parts by QH Disc's and Pads around £100 if my wallet remembers correctly Dave
  16. Morning Darren I brought mine a few years ago (2009 if I recall) through Ebay. Make the checks mine was from a UK seller with good feed back who also offered back up. Before that I used BMW 1.4.0 (still have it on the same laptop) Where ever you buy just make the normal sensible checks to make sure you will have support if needed Dave
  17. Just realized that I made a mistake. The last sentence should have been: " You would plug the trailer’s 7-pin into it, then the 7-pin coming out of the controller to X5."
  18. I would guess £500 + + from a Dealer so not exactly dear if yours isn't working 😁 Check www.reaoem.com either search by Vin number then through the sections or by the Part number you have. If you aren't aware double click the part number and you should get a list of alternates. Then check the normal Auction sites but don't forget there is a healthy BMW Specialist dismantler network they may help Dave
  19. Morning Chris Welcome to the Forum How frustrating, but if I remember back in the 70's British Leyland would have happily delivered the car warts and all 🤣 (I had a couple) Good luck keep nagging the Dealer Dave
  20. Morning John Karl For me that would indicate either an ABS sensor is down or the ABS controller has a Fault (not unknown) There are several companies that repair the ABS controllers at a reasonable cost and Warranty their work, the controller can be removed without disturbing the Brakes. An ABS sensor is around £20 make sure the reluctor ring is clean and not filled with crud (seen that a few times) fiddly to clean but worth it. Google will help with test procedures for ABS Sensors Don't know what system you brought locally but it seems to have moved you forward so Good Buy Dave
  21. My poor beautiful old E46 can retire now ahah
  22. Glad it worked 😃 Try (if you aren't already) www.realoem.com for BMW parts numbers some times it takes a visual search of the sections as I don't think it would find Gizmo 🤣 Dave
  23. I’ve just ordered a 220i coupe, obviously very excited. But was just wondering. What head unit people are seeing in their new deliveries this year. High 4 or High 5/idrive 8 or 8.5? Also long are deliveries taking from order the UK realistically?
  24. I have a 5 series on a 20 plate. I have trouble trying to here my spoken direction from the satnav can anyone please let me know how to make the spoken direction louder so I can here them over the engine noise?
  25. Hi John I am not aware of Right Connections worth a Google search to see if their kits are "Universal" or Specific to a model The local Company I used (Tanfield Towbars) ordered in the Oris kit for the X5 and it came with the loom complete It just needed plugging into the PDC controller and registering to the chassis. If the trailer plug is connected to the car the rear PDC is disconnected but the rear view camera is still in use. I would think any competent Towbar Specialist would know how it all goes together and how it should work Dave
  26. Had the same problem my self. Found out that it was from the cover below where there are two quarter turn screws. one of the clips was missing so the screw could not tighten up on.bmw part no. B.07.14.9.321.590. hope that helps
  27. Morning Steve Welcome to the Forum If your car didn't have Bilstien as OEM it will not accept the inserts Start with www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will bring up your Model. Then search the relevant sections the small exploded drawings are useful for identifying where stuff fits and how and the part numbers are good for Googling the best source/price etc. If you double click the part number it will bring up any alternatives/models parts were used on. Good Luck Dave
  28. Morning Ste Welcome to the Forum I fear that BMW is your only route with such a new vehicle BMW stopped access to www.realoem.com from 2019 year on making life increasingly difficult for anyone who wants to make changes or upgrades. Good Luck Dave
