  4. Hi. what state is the battery in? Charge it fully and then clear and recheck the codes. my x5 starts throwing up wired and wonderful things like angle sensors and the like when the battery is a bit low.
  5. Hi Stuart Great result I believe there is like a double skin effect so yes moisture/water can still be present trapped between the two. That is why the silica gel trick works so well it helps absorb the hidden moisture just make sure you can get them out and change them a few times. Dave
  6. New Key Programming Correct or re-programming a Key that has had a new battery fitted To buy a new key go to your BMW Dealer they will need the Vin and for some sight of the Registration in your name Beware of cheap keys online Dave

  9. I have just had a drive train issue on my 220 Gran Tourer auto at 37,000 miles and my BMW dealership is quoting Β£12.5k for a new gearbox. Can you add me to the list with regard to a collective complaint.

  11. Hi Dave. Thank you for your quick reply. SCARY is the first thing that comes to mind especially as I can no longer do my own work on my cars unless it is something like changing wiper blades and stuff that does not require a garage for shelter in the event of bad weather ! I will sound-out my Indy as I have been using him on my previous 4No E45's. A very very brief word with him a little after opening up your post revealed that the transmission service on the forthcoming E63 involves a new sump (made of plastic !!!) which has an integral filter as part of the construction. He was talking a figure circa Β£450.00. We will see when the time comes.
  12. Morning Mobeen Copies of INPA/ISTA are mainly pirate so not knowingly sold by members So you will need to search the internet if buying I would make sure the Software and Cable are together also be aware that some versions will not work on a 64bit system (mine runs on an old Windows 7 32bit system) Good Luck Dave
  13. Morning Alan I would think if it is possible it needs activation in the Operating system However I have to ask "Why" all my BMW's have had voice activation to some degree but I have never used it I tried on the early X5 then it was Radio and Phone only and to say the least it was not good !! A request like "phone home" would be answered with something unrelated like Radio 4 selected 🀣 So I have never bothered since all the buttons work and so do my fingers πŸ˜…πŸ˜‚ Dave
  14. Update: Hey everyone! I want to give a big thanks to all of you in the forum, especially those who shared helpful tips about my car search! So, about that window sticker, I just did a quick search on Google! I typed in "window sticker by VIN" and found this awesome website! It even lets you search for window stickers by license plate. How cool is that? Since I had the VIN number, I got myself a replica of the window sticker. Thanks a bunch for all your support, you guys are awesome!
  15. Hi. All of my Hey BMW commands work fine, except when trying to Command Open Drivers Window, Open Sun roof or Open sun blind, I get a response β€œthis is not currently possible”. I have tried asking BMW but do not get consistent answers. Is this possible on a UK car running v9 OS? thanks in advance. Al

  23. Morning Oliver Welcome to the Forum As far as I am aware they should be Tilt and Slide. There were some well documented incidence of them failing over the years and they can be a pain to fix from what I have read. Never done one personally, that may explain your specialists reaction. You could use a Vin Decoder to get the original build sheet the item to look for is S402A electric powered roof Dave

  26. Hi again Dave. Peace at almost any price can often be a relatively life changing compromise !!
  27. Hello Zat Welcome to the Forum Is your Warranty/Protection plan with BMW or an Aftermarket Company ? If it is an After market Warranty then they will just require proof of service to support the Warranty. There is a register of BMW Specialist's in the UK Google will help generally their Labour rates are around half that of BMW Dealers but they do have the knowledge and equipment to carry out all service and repairs needed Experience tells me most Service our selves statements mean Oil and Filter as the cars iDrive system records service intervals against time/distance it probably hasn't been touched. Even Dealers tend to record the service electronically and on the iDrive these days so you may have to ask for the service book to be stamped 😁 Progress Personally I have never trusted Extended service intervals and always carry out a full service annually Good Luck with finding a Specialist and enjoy your new car Dave
  28. Then you need the same box or you will need the skills and equipment to re program the gearbox ECU so it can communicate with the Engine DDE and several other of the cars ECU's The box that is in there has the fluid level been checked ? If a bump causes disconnect I would also check the loom Take a look at www.realoem.com it is an online BMW parts list put the last 7 digits of the Vin into the search box it will call up your Model. Then search the gearbox section, if you double click the part number (in Blue) it will bring up a list of other models the box was used in, if nothing their then choice is limited I am afraid Dave
