  10. Is there any resistance still with the lever or do you think the cable has become disconnected? If it is still attached it my just be the catch on the bonnet is stuck and a certain amount of pushing and pulling while someone holds the lever back with copious amounts of WD40 sprayed through the gap may free it.
  11. The car should tell you when the next service is due when you start it. Mine says 8000 miles till the next service when I start it at the moment. I assume the 5 series is the same as the 3. However I intend to get it serviced when I get it MOT'd every year anyway. Welcome to the club Martin

  17. It could be a nnumber of things but the symptoms suggest a poor connection somewhere. Sounds like you need to pull it out and check everything is plugged in properly.
