Hi Mike
It's an automatic adjuster by the look of it and you turn the nut on the pulley with a spanner until the slot (visible in photo) aligns with a hole behind it where you then lock it off with a drill bit of the right size. You can then fit the belt and turn the pulley slightly to release the drill bit and hey presto....correct adjustment

I would agree with Greydog....one hell of a test drive :-)

You could try an oil flush and refill with good quality oil but worth getting the valve followers and / or timing chain checked to see they are in tip-top condition.

Hi Jordan...sorry to hear your woes...trouble you could do without!
I would wait to see what fault codes come up...could be something as simple as a camshaft sensor (after timing chain has stretched a small amount, may have triggered the cam sensor?)
Keep us updated on the progress
Cheers Trevor

Good luck with it all and hope you get a misfire (in the nicest possible sense)

May have something to do with setting priority on the audio system (to select which phone is paired with first each time you reconnect)...just a thought!

Not sure which calendar this is?
May have been another BMW club possibly?

Hi Darren...welcome to the Club
As Greydog has already mentioned, it sounds like the EGR or DPF (or both) are clogged as the car is very low mileage for the year, suggesting that it has been smoked around town locally and needs cleaning out.
I would advise contacting someone like Terraclean who can sort that out for you.
Let us know how you get on with it
Cheers Trevor

Wise words Greydog....sometimes the fix is easier than one would imagine, albeit it sometimes takes longer to search the information than to carry out the job :-)

Hi Chris...welcome to the Forum
The bikes are great to work on but not sure the cars are that easy :-)
Good to have you onboard

Glad to hear you have resolved the starting and running issues.
Just ensure the timing chain is replaced at some point as it is a major failure item that is best sorted before it becomes an issue
-
Probably won't hear the lift pump but definitely try a new battery as a faulty one can definitely affect the electronic systems

Hi Jarmisson....welcome to the Forum
It appears that the Glow Plug Control Module is usually at fault when these codes appear.
Also check for chaffed wiring leading to or from the moduel
Let us know what you find
Cheers Trevor

Hi Chris....welcome to the Forum
As an owner of a Z3 and in the process of resto-modding it, I am always up for finding out about electronic mods.
Feel free to post up anything that you may be working on
Good to have you onboard

Great to hear that you have addressed some of the issues but that you have now inherited a few more.
Keep us posted on how you get on with the recalls.

Hi MalcMac...welcome to the Forum
You could have a look at these Tuning Boxes

Have one on my Honda and can highly recommend it

Hi Andy
It could well be the other valve or even an ignition based problem as well as a knock sensor problem. I would personally start by looking at the ignition system as if you have problems there it could be reflected in the other two systems...certainly worth checking first.

The front brake calipers should be straightforward push in pistons unlike the rears which will be wind in type.

Stainless pipes are more durable as they obviously won't corrode so if you're keeping the car for many years then it may be worth it, otherwise they definitely sound better.
Not sure about the volume on the sensors but you could locate the bleeper (in the boot area I think) and see if it has dropped down or something similar
