  1. Getting there but I think its going to be slow progress, next month im going to sort the front suspension with whatever parts it needs then tackle the front discs/pads and maybe get some Goodridge braided lines. After that lot is sorted its time to sort the body work and get all the little bits of rust sanded and repainted.
  2. Just fitted new cabin and air filters this afternoon, cabin filters were filthy but the air filter looked quite clean, as they are so cheap I put a new one in anyway. Oil and filter change booked in for tomorrow afternoon :-)
  3. You will find that a 730d is no better on fuel around town than a 530i, about 22-26mpg they only achieve their best mpg on the motorway of 35-40mpg. Don't think my old E90 320d auto could get more than 28mpg around town.
  4. If its the E90/92 your after you may aswell go for the 330d over the 325d, the fuel economy is practicly the same but has more bhp & torque.
  5. If your wanting a stainless steel back box then its best to get the b-pipe done aswell so a complete cat-back in stainless would be the best option from a custom exhaust place, plus they will be able to make it look OEM.
  6. Evil kids, glad im never having any lol
  7. Looks a bit of a handful.
  8. Turns out that my delivery came yesterday and the flat below signed for my package even though I was home and it took them 24 hours to bring it up to me.
  9. Ive got the car booked in for its first oil service on Friday, will only of driven it less than 20 miles since I got it and will feel a lot better once its had some fresh 5w30 fully synthetic in it. Ive got my filter on order from Eurocarparts which was supposed to be delivered yesterday along with the air and pollen filters so ive just emailed them to chase them up.

  11. Yep what they said mate.
  12. Welcome!
  13. Its ok found the sensors on Eurocarparts, they are quite cheap also :)
  14. Thanks Jack, do you know if sensors come with pads or where I can get them? I take it the autos tend to warp discs more easily because when people brake upto a junction they tend to leave it in drive whilst stationary with their foot on the brake and the pads contact with the disc does not allow the heat to dissipate evenly?
  15. Heys gus just wondering if my 5 series has brake pad sensors? The reason I ask is because my previous E90 had pad sensors, tyre pressure sensors etc. Ive noticed a very slight judder under braking which I believe is a slightly warped disk? Anyway im pleased to see that after checking prices online of OEM Jurid discs/pads and OE quality Pagid item they are very similar and reasonably priced
  16. Welcome, look forward to seeing the pics!
  17. Ive done a few random things like office work, worked as a baker, retail security then commercial pipe fitting then joined the Royal Navy 4 years ago as an engineer on the submarines.
  18. Just wondering what oil you guys would recommend for a 2001 525i with 74k on the clock part or fully synthetic? Thanks James
  19. Just picked up a 2001 E39 525i, has a few bodywork issues I will sort over time but its only done 74k and the engine and gearbox are very smooth.
  20. Money no object BMW fantasy garage A pristine E34 M5 A pristine E46 M3 CSL A pristine E38 740i Sport
  21. Welcome :-) The first thing I did when I had the e90 320d is get rid of the runflats and replace with regular Bridgestone's, it improved the ride so much and worked out about 35 pounds a tyre less.
  22. A remap is good for 12-15bhp but combine that with a decent exhaust and your looking at about 210bhp.
  23. I won't mention mpg again. That 740i is so tempting!
  24. Found another better priced example but its a 740i, not sure how thirsty it would be on a long run. Nice wheels though. http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/bmw/7-series/bmw-7-series-740i-v8-4dr-auto/871275
