    Welcome.
  2. That sounds like a DSC /ABS warning.
  3. I think it was the older 2.5 engines that had the one under the bonnet (523i). I'll just order one of the reset tools from ebay then, thanks Jack.
  4. Im not sure Jack, there is a pic of my engine bay on here in the 5 Series section. I would check but my car is in a car park about half a mile away lol.
  5. Is there a simple to use tool that can reset the oil service light one the oil has been changed by an independant garage? What do you guys recommend, nothing too expensive just easy to use. Thanks James
  6. Are you running the tyres at the recommended pressures? The maximum pressure for the tyre will be on its sidewall, maybe inflating the tyre to a pressure thats between the recommended and the maximum will help. Have you had the suspension geometry checked?
  7. Next week im going to order the parts to sort my front brake judder out. Off the top of my head im going to order OEM Jurid front discs and pads, brake wear sensors and some DOT 4 Super Blue fluid. Is anything else needed and does anyone know how much brake fluid is needed?
  8. 36mpg over 502 miles on a private road doing 75-80mph and still had an indicated 87 miles of petrol left.
  9. Just done my first big journey in comfort, 502 miles on 1 tank of petrol with an indicated 87 miles left, so about 36mpg.
  10. Oil/filter changed and new spring fitted. Next month its mot, tax and front brakes to sort out.
  11. I would say you need to speak to a good independant BMW specialist and ask how many hours labour to fit the new rack. At 100 pounds an hour there's no way it would take 20 hours for them to justify 2200 for labour.
  12. I beleive if your car is used for lots of short journeys the dpf might not be fuctioning correctly.
  13. Just had a look on ebay and a used steering rack with pipes can be had for 120 so I don't know how they can charge 3400 to fix yours.
  14. The car has been getting its oil and filter changed this afternoon and I wanted look for the source of the front suspension noise (only occurs when going over steep speed bump). As soon as the car was on the ramp I could see the front passenger side spring was snapped, this was at 5pm so I was worried about sourcing the part for tomorrow. Luckily the autofactors in the unit opposite my mechanics had KYB M Sport spring that I could have. The part is being fitted in the morning so all being well I should be able to pick the car up tomorrow lunchtime :)
  15. Welcome, nice E46.
  16. Needs to come from a car that has the same electrical options fitted I think, like sunroof etc otherwise it won't be compatible then the only thing to sort out would be an immobaliser reset.
  17. I don't condone violence but im surprised that guy didn't backhand his evil kid lol.
  18. Get some pics up, did you manage to get the lcd display sorted?
