  1. It could be a faulty FSR (Final stage resistor). On the e39 5 series the FSR is located under the dash, drivers side, near the clutch pedal. Someone else had a similar problem where the blower was stuck on and it was the FSR that was to blame, I believe the part is available through Eurocarparts. Hope this helps. James
  2. Not sure how to solve that tbh but welcome to the forum :)
  3. Im sure someone will be able to advise on this, im not very good when it comes to audio advice im afraid. Is there another fuse for the amp that is separate from the head unit fuse?
  4. I couldn't say without driving it. Ive just done my front discs and pads, couldn't feel the vibrations or steering wheel feedback under light braking but has now been solved with the new discs. If you find you need any suspension or brake parts checkout Eurocarparts or Carparts4less as both do very reasonably priced OEM parts.
  5. Welcome to the forum. Sounds like your front discs are warped if the steering wheel moves in your hands under braking, if it is this you should also feel it in the pedal.
  6. I know what you mean, I ignore all that and just pay attention to the spec and the awesome colour.
  7. If you check the part details it says the 330mm fronts discs are for ''Special usage for government vehicles''. If your unsure I would call BMW with your reg and ask what part number you need, Im guessing they will give you the part No. for the 300mm discs. With regards to fitting I wouldn't go anywhere but Automek, if you type into google Andrew Baird Automek he come's highly recommended.
  8. Not sure of the disc sizes on the 320d, take a look at Eurocarparts and type your reg in and it will tell you whats available for your car. The M sport 320d just has different front/rear bumpers, wheels and suspension, the brakes should be the same size. Not heard of MrAuto because I always use Automek in Eastkilbride, excellent workmanship and decent prices. I took the front discs and pads I bought for fitting yesterday, the fitting of the discs, pads, wear sensors and an MOT came to just 108.00.
  9. Just spotted this in the Autotrader, looks a rare beast in an awesome colour http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201307177858750/sort/priceasc/usedcars/fuel-type/petrol/model/m5/make/bmw/onesearchad/used/onesearchad/nearlynew/onesearchad/new/keywords/m5/page/2/radius/1500/postcode/pa13nu?logcode=p
  10. Very nice E46, I like the wheels they remind me of the Alpina style wheels.
  11. Not much to report, just had the new discs and pads fitted and had the car MOT done. The annoying juddering under braking is 80% gone, can still feel a slight pulsating through the pedal due to the rears needing changing soon but the feedback through the steering wheel is gone :) Another top class job by Automek.
  12. Another Scottish member, welcome to the forum.
  13. These tyres have good reviews and have been recommended by other forum users so when the time comes I'll chose 1 of these 2 brands. http://www.camskill.co.uk/m54b0s312p111354/Vredestein_Tyres_Car_Vredestein_Ultrac_Sessanta_-_235_45_R17_94Y_TL_Fuel_Eff_%3A_F_Wet_Grip%3A_C_NoiseClass%3A_1_Noise%3A_67dB http://www.camskill.co.uk/m54b0s312p97603/Uniroyal_Tyres_Car_Uniroyal_RainSport2_Uniroyal_RainSport_2_-_235_45_R17_94W_FR_TL_Fuel_Eff_%3A_F_Wet_Grip%3A_B_NoiseClass%3A_2_Noise%3A_71dB
  14. Welcome to the forum, not sure about the trim to be honest but yes the clutch delay valve can be removed without any problems Like you said it just smooths gear changes by keeping the clutch engaged longer than it should be, this increases clutch wear but if you want full control over your transmission you can remove it.
  15. Welcome to the forum, I had a 2006 E90 320d SE a couple of years ago and ran it for about 10k without any issues. If I had of kept the car I would have had the swirl flaps blanked off, I think the kit can be bought from a company called PMW. I believe the 2005-2007 163bhp E90 didn't have a DPF so you don't have to worry about that, I had mine remapped to about 200bhp/295lbft which I believe is a safe state of tune and a lot of people who have the later model with the DPF get it removed with a remap as a preventative measure. Also I bought non-runflat Bridgestone's which drastically improved the ride over the runflat version of the tyre plus if you have the M-sport this is even more important, the non-runflats were about 35 pounds per tyre cheaper.
  16. Thanks Jack, one less think to worry about for now although I don't think the mismatched tread pattern helps the brake judder lol New front discs & pads are going on this week
  17. I'll double check the tread depth but I think they are all about 3.5-4mm any yes all 4 are 235/45/17
  18. Ok guys Ive had my car about a month now, Ive got the MOT coming up next week and I have got mismatched tyres. Just looking for suggestions on what tyres will be ok for my E39, the size on my style 81's is 235/45/17 all round, im not looking to spend big bucks as I do 90% motorway miles but then again they can't be rubbish budget tyres that are dangerous. All suggestions and personal opinions are welcome. James
  19. Haha this threads 4 years old. Anyway welcome to the forum.
  20. That's good then, although im betting there's lots of fbmwsh cars out there that havn;t had the filters changed.
  21. Yes I imagine its going to be very frustrating waiting that long. I didn't realize the e90 320si was that bad, the si had the 170bhp 2.0 4 cylinder if I remember correctly and the standard version only had 150bhp 2.0. I had the e90 320d auto a couple of years ago and couldn't get over 43mpg even when doing 3-400 miles on the motorway.
