  1. Hi Raymond Welcome to the Forum Sun Roof Drains are a known culprit doesnt take much fror them to get clogged Dave
  2. Hi John Welcome to the Forum I would check very carefully the loom to the coil packs and the Injectors. I have seen a misfire fault on a Volvo T5 and a BMW 335i neither car logged fault codes. Both cars would start and run smoothly and show no fault or misfire even when revs were raised, but if the car was under load the symptoms were there. The T5 it was injector harness with cracked insulation and the BMW failed insulation on the loom to the Coil Packs Hope this helps Dave
  3. Hi Ali Have you checked that the battery holding clamp is in place ? When the battery was changed was swapped like for like? Dave
  4. Morning Stu The fact you have a wiper issue would point me away from the Cluster initially My thoughts are Footwell Module it's in the left hand footwell (well it would be 😅) Run a scan it should show up any issues. The Footwell control module on the 4.6 caused all sorts of odd stuff radio that would randomly turn on/off odd light issues seat controls. BMW say you can't swap them it has to be new and set up by them (wrong of course) I changed mine for an upgraded unit second hand it took longer to remove the old unit and swap it than it did to re-program it cured everything and probably stuff I hadn't found 😅 Dave P.S I wont let the E70 on Whats App or Face Book just in case 🤣
  5. Morning Owen You can check your cars build sheet by using an online Vin Decoder adaptive LED lights would be S552A I am pretty sure they should be self leveling as well I am not sure how you could manually reset the lights without beam setting equipment but it does sound daft the way yours are set Dave
  6. Morning Owen Welcome to the Forum First thing to establish is whether your headliamps are Halogen or HID, next what condition are the Headlamp lens's in and the simplist thing last beside the headlamp switch do you have a headlamp aim roller switch if so try moving the setting. If your headlamps are Halogen then a simple bulb upgrade can make things better (Osram Night Breaker are good) if you fit LED bulbs take care as they can be an MOT fail. Also the headlamp lens must be clean and clear as they are Polycarbonate they do tend become cloudy. They can be polished and cleaned that also makes a big difference. Dave
  7. 🤣 They may have their own Whats App Group 🤣🤣 scary who knows with AI Guess that means we are in trouble Dave
  8. Morning Andrew When I rebuilt the E53 4.6is engine BMW didn't have the Crank Damper or Belt tensioners and they were on long lead times. I brought Gates replacements after talking to an engine tuner in the States saved money and 80k later they have just out lasted the OEM stuff. I would check the tensioner carefully maybe worth replacing Belt and Tensioner I would have no worries about using replacements from Gates Dave
  9. Hi Vincent A quick look at www.realoem.com shows that tyre size was Run Flat was an option the conumdrum is what did the car come with as you can fit standard tyres to Run Flat Rims but not the other way around Dave
  10. Well done Paul Persistance pays at least you semm to have some movement at last Dave
  11. Morning Ian Welcome to the Forum I have only heard of this once before and in that instance the actual Vanos had been damaged Have tha Crank and Cam sensors been tested ? Dave
  12. Morning All The X5 is back on the road front calipers changed so no more binding brakes As the sun was out I also fitted new front bushes and rear drop links to my wifes Subaru Outback must be the warm weather 😅😅 This morning I feel like an Old Bloke who spent yesterday rolling around on the garage floor 🤣 🤣 Now cut the grass hedges and tidy the garden Dave
  13. Morning Clive Come on give what colour are they 😆 Dave
  14. Hi Guy They do know how to charge don't they But at least your back on the road and running smoothly (we hope) Dave
  15. Hi Paul A neighbour had the seat mat sensor fail and discovered 2 things (1) they are expensive (2) the job is not straight forward (he has a 330i touring) He actually found it cheaper to buy a second hand seat with everything working fortunately passenger seats tend to be less worn. As far as the fault code goes are there ant other codes associated (check the Footwell module) Hope this helps Dave
  16. Well spent an afternoon in the sun finding and fixing the K-can faults just need to get at the Brakes now Dave
  17. So sorted the injector issue and just got back on the road and the E70 has developed a Brake problem !! Binding front caliper Dohhh On top of that I ran a diagnostic and the old girl has developed a series of K-can faults !! Still the sun is out 😁 Brakes first then the K-can will need investigation Dave
  18. Morning Kokejn Welcome to the Forum Consumption for the 218hp 6 speed gearbox model should be around 10ltr/100km around town and 8ltr/100km on a run As Stu has said first place to start is with the inlet side is everything as clean as it can be and no leaks. Parts wear and become clogged with age and Miles/Kilometers covered, Make sure the EGR is clean and working correctly as Stu said throttle bodies wear and become dirty check all Vacuum lines and and inlet hoses, final check on the inlet side are the injectors worn or clogged they have a huge effect. Is the turbo in good condition and producing correct boost Hope this helps
  19. As you have a noise which worries you clearly it isn't perfect, and the belt area needs checking/attention Dave
  20. Hi Ali Your first code I believe is Glow Plug controller related, either the Glow Plug controller or its wiring Second is normally Transfer case or Lin bus related The last is not one I have ever seen before fingers crossed its related to the other 2 I would start with the Glow Plugs and Controller not an expensive job but a fiddly one as the Inlet manifold has to come off to get at them. Allow yourself plenty of time as the Glow plugs are a known problem soak them in release fluid for a couple of hours first. The Glowplug controller is still awkward to get at on the side of the engine below the glow plugs the total job I would rate a 6 (1 being easy 10 being a complete Beech) Next I would check the electrical connections at the Transfer Case make sure they are clean and made correctly Then when its back together make sure the Battery is fully charged reset all codes and start then scan to see what comes back Dave
  21. Morning Ali I can't open your attachment for some reason can you just post the codes in your message If the car is starting and cutting out I would start with the fuel pump fuses and relay. Check the fuel pressure sensor and if its a diesel check the pressure at the High Pressure pump When was the car last serviced and when was the fuel filter last changed ? Dave
  22. Morning Guy Take care if inspecting Belts and pulleys if the engine is running as I said in my original post if you can't DIY get help. Your drive belt wraps around the main Crank pulley and AC Pump at the bottom of the engine up around the alternator then down under a Tensioner Water Pump pulley Are you loosing coolant ? I have never worked on a 2 series but did read about water pump/thermostat issues some time ago It is imposible to acurately diagnose a problem from a description we are just guessing Dave
  23. Hi Vincent Welcome to the Forum You don't need to accept the first diagnosis, good practice if you can't DIY is always get 3 quotes. Plus don't tell them what you think it may be or what someone else has told you. A rattle could be as simple as a belt tensioner or as expensive as a Timing chain with many other possibles in between. For garages get local recommendations don't rely on "Online stuff" word of mouth is better. You can also use the Register of BMW Specialists to find a local specialist Good luck Dave
  24. Hi Paul How disappointing You would think that is not to risky for a Dealer to set up a test to trigger the visual and audible warnings even if they consider automatic brake testing dangerous Dave
  25. Morning Duncan Welcome to the Forum If you only brought the car 3 weeks ago you still have consumer protection take it back to the garage you brought from Dave
