hi mate welcome to bmwoc....hmmmmm if i had that choice i would go for the 335d or the 525d only because i need something quick with good mpg.....the e46 m3 is one of my favourite cars but having 2,nearly 3 kids it just wouldnt be practical

has the key worn down?have you tried another key?spray some wd40 into the lock and try again

they should clip in fairly tightly.you could try cleaning them and then taping them up tightly to make a good connection

i have heard a few people have tried the wd40 thing and it worked.i would try spraying some onto a cotton bud then cleaning the connections with it.it wont damage it

my airbag light used to come on sometimes on my old e46.i used to punch the passenger seat and it went out....odd

it may sound mad but have you tried disconnecting the connectors and spraying a bit of wd40 on them?
