  11. mate if money wasnt a factor,petrol kills it every time.diesel is dirty and doesnt sound half as good as a petrol engine,but in the current climate diesel makes sense for value for money....................i still say petrol though for some reason

    hi mate.look for all the usual things when buying a car such as rust on the arches,knocks bangs or smoke when driving. there are plenty of good e46's about for sale but can i make a suggestion? i wouldnt go for a 320 unless you go diesel.everything i've ever read suggests that they are really slow and the mpg is hardly better than a 2.5 litre e46.i drove a friends 318 and it was like driving treacle... if i was buying an e46 now i would obviously go for an m3 but seriously though i think if i was you i would look at a 325 or a 330. i personally have a 323.its a 2.5 litre restricted straight six.i get 31 ish mpg around town and 45 mpg on motorways.... hope i've sort of helped you somewhere with my rambling mate ;) :blink: :blink:

  20. hi mate welcome.my 323i gets me 40 to 45 mpg on the motorway if thats anything to go by.i'm sure a 5er will be a lot heavier though
