  1. Haha, yeah was hard trying not to get 2 excited in front of him, Its an awesome sounding car love it!!!! Just needs the box sorted and i'll be a happy chappy
  2. Yeah they can do 1 haha. I've told him the box issue has to be sorted before i commit am just thinking how he could bodge it to not cost him much money. So was looking for some info on what it could be. Been a while since i done this car ownership mullarkey, Rentals are great lol. But yeah no way am i buying it as is!!!!
  3. Ryt finally got down to see the guy and went for a 2nd test drive all going well am picking it up next week, But changing gears was a herculean task to change gears i really had to wretch at the lever to change gears so they are going to investigate its been sat a while maybe just cold but am thinking maybe its a thrust bearing or something. Anyone any knowledge on these boxes! I have been told to expect it to be a little Notchy but my god it was really hard to change gears. But drives like a dream saw a bill for 20k worth of bushes and suspension replacement parts. Which is about 3.5k Sterling so its been well looked after. Just worried about the gear changes. Thanks Chris
  4. Taxi's are all Diesel for 1 basic reason. They are all just taking the easy route, If you change ur driving habits whilst in a petrol car to that of a diesel i.e dont accelerate hard cos Diesels are gutless an smoky 90% of the time. Change ur driving habits in a petrol be a lil more tentitive think well ahead of your path, Brake early accelerate easy and you'll be surprised at how you can decrease ur fuel consumption. Good tyre pressure regular services and a keep the Heid as we say. You can enjoy a petrol enjoy but with a bit of pace when u want or need it!. I could get to work an back all week when i had my 300zx if i wasn't driving like i stole it on a single tank. if i was over eager on the go faster pedal. It was gone in a cpl days. At the end of the day we live in a world where you can make ur own choices, So go drive both and see what you prefer. What we say dont matter a jot at the end of the day if ur not happy. Also F.A.O No one in the petrol variety is unhappy but all the diesel fella's are ;). 1 guy even laughs how much his 4.4V8 is using.............Just saying is all!!!!!!!
  5. With todays engines the way they are, There aint much in it economy wise. Plus u gotta look at the price of buying a diesel over a petrol, Diesel used to be far cheaper than petrol because there wasn't as much non commercial demand for it. Diesel is now more expensive than petrol, plus to get the best out a diesel or any eco friendly car you gotta drive it like ur in eco mode. Just change how u drive ur petrol car and u'll notice a big difference don't aggressively over accelerate take time come up the gears u'll still hit 70 but in a better gear and get more fuel economy from it. I was home in the summer and bought my older brother his 1st car he's 32, So any fuel bill is goin to feel harsh to him, due to his age i bought him a 2.0l Ghia X 51plate with 72k full ford history 1yrs Mot and 4months Tax for £650 and WHY so cheap because a 2.0lt is seen as a big car now in the UK come on wise up. You know that car took me to Manchester airport and he got 540miles out it before having to Refuel for me thats awesome. Plus before you get into bed with a X5 diesel, go price a fuel pump. Wont be cheap at all and you gotta take it to someone who can programme it cos unlike a petrol, you can't just replace it turn the key and off you go. Glow plugs are another pain in the !Removed! aint as easy as 6new spark plugs and a filter change. but at the end of the day thrash a diesel hard or a petrol hard and it will use fuel simples. Good luck with your choice Ps u'll be able to bargain harder for a petrol than a diesel. not so desirable!! Wont let you retire but maybe a cpl tanks of free fuel. See you're saving already :)
  6. dont know that name sorry fella, but i know a few lads that work as instructors on Yas Island!
  7. Ryt now for a cash price of just under 9k i can have the car, But he just offered me a lease to own deal which after everything comes out to 12,500 but that means the cars fully insured and maintained for 2yrs regardless. So i'm gonna go down Sunday have a chat and see what the crack is. Insurance here is cheap its a straight 5% of the cars value none of this how old is ur grannies 1st born next may and how many times a day do you say hello etc to work out a premium. So in the uk this car would cost me an easy 1100 to insure as i've been out the country an lost any no claims i'm entitled to. Plus if they are maintaining it. Come the end of 2yrs i'll make sure i have a new car built by BMW original parts BAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHA I love the E39 i think its a fantastic looking car, So the chance to own an M5 for me is awesome. Yer the E34 was and is a great car but for me the aggressive look of the E39 is awesome. Well happy. Also Dabsy i think you might be right about the impatient bit in me here's a post i left on another M5 site. I left them a little goodbye in Arabic just to !Removed! em off a lil haha http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e39-m5-e52-z8-discussion/196464-dubai.html#post2186174
  8. Whats his name?? aint Andy is it? I know a few boys that work there. Yer i cant complain about my life here it works well for me. I have a 20hr week. I just picked up another 6hrs a week at another place and thats seriously put some more cash in my pocket every month. So the M5 will soon be replaced if all keeps going. Arabs dont bother me in the slightest. Like everywhere everyone only hears the worst, Some of my arab friends are salt of the earth and am pleased i have met them. Oz is ok apart from the cripplin tax system they have in place now. And am sorry i'd rather socialise with Arabs than Yanks fook me spend sometime with them and you'll see what i mean and sadly america is full of them :(.
  9. Its the Director of the dealerships old car, so Servicing is bursting to the brim. Went back today it had all new belts and pulleys 6months ago. So deal is being finalised so hoping he will through in a free service in 6months time.
  10. Don't think the weather here will effect that too much, but if needs be i'll buy all new round. for clear units all round. My bro flies out soon so he can pack his case well haha. Wont weigh much i don't think. What like is the suspension tops etc on it???
  11. There is a sensor on Vxhalls that goes and causes this, Now before we all go down the superior BMW route let me finish haha. Its the crank shaft position sensor i had it on my corsa when i was 17 was a right nightmare sadly. Also had it on my lil sisters Tigra, and my uncle had it on his 05 Vectra SRI. Its worth getting it to a local specialist and having it diagnosed or is there a key dance on these cars where by if you put the key in the ignition and turn it enough times it will display codes on the dash??? If you can get a fault code then a google search should answer ur woes. Ok thank you google try this. 1) Turn the ignition switch to the 'engine run' position. 2) Depress the gas pedal to the floor 5 times. The CHECK ENGINE light will blink out the FAULT CODES starting with the lowest number first. These FAULT CODES consist of 4 digits each separated by a short pause (ie. blink pause blink blink pause blink pause blink translates as 1 2 1 1). Right down the code it tells you and come back to me with the 4digit code.
  12. So 44 people have viewed it and no one can tell me about general faults with an E39 M5, Glad am here, Well i'll keep muddling through the search function!!!
  13. It's tax free I work a 20hr week My company pay my rent i get fed 3x a day. So have no bills at all, petrol is 23p a litre, 20 cigs are £1.40. Not kiss in public dude please. I've done far worse and whilst the cops were watching. There's no crime ok beers expensive but so what its a luxury i can afford to part take in. Am here 3yrs and will never go back to the uk!! I can't think why you wouldn't want to live here :)
  14. Well the time has come to buy and i've looking for 10days straight now. can't find a decent low mileage V8 that's not a dog. Typical :( So stumbled across a lovely M5 in Blue. Waiting on sales manager coming back to me with a final decent price and gonna push for a water and oil pump overhaul if i can!!! Fingers crossed this time next week am a BMW owner woop woop :)
  15. Was looking at getting myself an X5 but couldn't find a V8 version that didnt have stupid miles on it or was a dog!! So went shopping for something v8 and four door, Found an 1999 M5 in blue with less than 80,000kms on it so thats about 50,000 miles full service hist from Bmw all the toys. Little older than i wanted to go but it puts me in a good position as am buying cash and here they wont finance a car older than 6yrs!!! even then they aren't happy at over 5. Is there anything i should look for to try an get a lil more off the price or something big i can try an get them to replace i.e are the water pumps prone to blowing up or anything. Its had a full belt change and gearbox fluid was done when they took it in. Thanks for the advice guys Chris
