Gents,

Just purchased a 59' plate cooper S (turbo version) for the wife. Collecting it on weds.

I know there are good and bad things said about the Mini, but in all honesty, what am i looking out for straight away when i get to have a good rummage over it?

It has the mini service pack until 2015 so that's something, and i have already contacted mini to look and see if it has had the water pump recall done, but if anyone could offer advice on anything else to look out for i would be grateful.

Regards,

Rhys

The coolant system is one of the killer faults on that imposter of a Mini !!

Check the pipework for rust/fouling, Gav had this issue. Easily solved, just catch it before it catches you (or the missus) ;)

Thanks JD

Will have a proper look over it when it's on the drive

Good luck with your missus new car, have a couple of friends with cooper S, and have had no trouble, just kept their cars serviced regularly

I had one of the first minis off the line, terrible thing.

I imagine BMW have sorted most of the problems buy 2009

Good luck mate

Thanks guys,

It's in with mini on weds so they can check out the clutch and flywheel issues they were known for as the clutch is a little bit juddery on initial pull away. No slip thru the gears though. Also getting them to check the timing chain, but other than that its actually pretty good.

Very quick little beasty!

Regards

Rhys
