Hello folks - First post for me here and I had a quick question regarding a warning light that I thought you might be able to help me with.

I have a 520d Touring 2007 and last night I had a strange warning light symbol come up in the dash

The symbol was an oil can with a wavy line underneath (looks a bit like water!) I recently filled the engine oil, so I am surprised if it's low.

I have been into the onboard computer, but I can't find any faults. I have looked in the owners manual as well, but there is no mention of this warning light. I have also done a bit of research on line and I can't seem to find out what the symbol means.

If anybody could let me know what it means and more importantly what I need to do that would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Mark

Can you take a photo mate?

Welcome to the community matey :)

If it is a symbol that portrays an oil can, it's most likely the oil warning light. Common warning light on E60/E90 models.

There are usually two reasons this can happen.

1. During it's last service, the system was not reset correctly.

2. The oil sensor is faulty (In which it will need to be OBD scanned to confirm this)

Hope this helps,

Daz

Welcome Mark, Enjoy the forum

I would personally give her an oil-change using oil-flush to clean the sump filter/strainer, reset OBD this should clear it for a few years !! :)
