At MOT time last year I got a warning on both off side and near side lower (rear) suspension arm rubber bushes deteriorated but not resulting in excessive movement... Do you think they will need doing this year? Its done about 8000miles

Caz

More than likely, but do MOT first !

According to my MOT tester deterioration is not a failure providing there is minimal up and down movement, sideways is not really counted unless severe. hope this is helpful

If I dont do them though it'll fail wont it if they need doing.. wasnt sure if its something that gets worse with wear or over time?

Hi, They do get worse over time but how much is very debatable, the parts are cheap the labour is not. But its a life that you may be risking one day. I am meticulous and I am still here at nearly 67 years old and still a Beemer fan.....

i would get them done one less thing to worry about

I agree, especially if you intend to keep her ;)

next on my list is polly bushing mine just waitin for the cash fariy to leave sum under my pillow

Not as expensive as you think !!

Thanks for the replies.. think I will just get them done, been thinking about changing the car but I could just buy a whole new load of probs so will stick with the beemer for now

  • 2 weeks later...

Caz, poly bushes are worth a thought, the rear arm body mount bushes cost me £40 from powerflex and though a swine to get the old bushes out, the poly's went in perfectly. And of course they will last forever....

£230 not expensive lol yeh right

Not so bad in my opinion... A FULL SET of standard ones from BMW would hit you for £130+, Poly's last three-times longer...

Would stiffen the ride a touch too.

Well £209 later and I've had them done! Just the standard bushes, didnt have time to sort poly ones out.. I hope it passes the MOT tomorrow, or my flexible friend will be well and truly flexed!!

It'll fly thru.... Money well spent I think ;)
