Hi can any 1 help I've just bought a 325i m sport 2001 112 k my girlfriend has just rung me & said she saw White smoke when reversing the car & smelt oil burning help????

Andy maybe right. White smoke is an indication the engine is burning coolant and this can happen when the head gasket is allowing coolant to flow from the capillaries into the combustion chambers. This type of head gasket failure is hard to pinpoint as the oil doesn't necessarily come in contact with the coolant (causing that typical yoghurty dipstick scenario).

I would say rarely is it the other course, burning transmission fluid....

Main thing is too do is monitor the amount of coolant your filling her up with. Fix could just be a course of RadWeld or similar product.

My advice: You just bought it, Take it back!

K-Seal is much better than RadWeld Daz B)

How would I know? None of that sh*t could fix the hole in MY cylinder head :( Size of an apple...

Saying that, I do have a bottle of K-Seal in my boot haha

Probably got all smokey coz it was a cold start. My car pumps some white smoke out from time to time ONLY when its cold and mine has a brand new cylinder head

Keep us posted and get some pics up!!

Yeah, in these climates it seems quite normal, its the temperature of the burnt fuel reacting to the outside cooler temperature which can cause the whitish mist... Hydrocarbons dispersing !!
