Has anyone dropped their e46 on lowering springs? want to do mine and was wondering if it's easy to do or do you need clamps? want to take mine down by about 40mm which should make it sit abit better but also hopefully stiffen the ride up abit aswell B)

Cheers :D

You will need a pair of spring compressors for the front struts !!

150 quid Gav? I can get them fitted for 80, anyone used G Max springs? I had them on my Lex and they were spot on for that.

Pair of spring compressors = about a tenner tops !! DO IT YOURSELF...

May take you 3 hours at worst

1- Jack its ass, use axle stands.

REAR... Dont be scared to jack the hub away from body, spring will fall out lol.

2- Jack the front, axle stands under body...

FRONT... Drop the top strut bolts, (stand back lol) and remove hub bolts... Use compressors "on springs only" then remove damper bolt and rubber etc...

Replacement is exactly the reverse process :P

DO IT B)

Does seem pretty easy to do but I don't really have the time so would still probably put it in somewhere, i've got a couple of other issues that I need to look at first anyway, it's making a funny noise at speed from the rear it's like an intermittent drone and it's started knocking every now and again front offside so need to get the wheels of and check everything :(

If your dropping it mate, and you need bushes replaced god for nylon bushes, will last a lot longer.

I put 40mm lowering springs on mine......defo a good idea, most cars sit as high as 4x4's thesedays, lol, once youve lowered a car, youll never look back and will do it every car after....trust me,my mate said the same to me years ago and Ive never looked back ;)

Yeah I dropped the Lex and it makes a massive difference I think the rear of the BM is ok but the front defo needs it but it'll be as much to stiffen the ride up abit as it will be for looks though.

Well said, Gav... Very good advice B)
