Hi all, I have a 2002 E53 X5 3.0i

I am a new member and have been members of cubs ect before. I know they can be really helpful

Unfortunately I come with problems :)

I have the 13 pin westfila towing wiring but I cant get the lights to work on my caravan. The water pump interior lights all work tho?

I was told it plugs in on the drivers side connection in the spare wheel bay. I have found the connection that matches perfectly so am I going wrong somewhere?

The pics are attached

Thanks in advance Andy

Welcome along.

Don't mean to patronize but have you checked bulbs and fuses?

I will dig deeper for you tonight when I get to my computer.

Just to add....

Have a good look at the wiring sequence in and out of that plug and notice any differences...

Make sure they match at least ! Maybe even get a tester on the powered lines whilst your side lights are on... Working thru hazards too with the same method...

Hi guys,

Fast reply too.

The van lights work on all other cars vans ect we have tried on hr.

Just seems to be mine.

The fittings match perfect too, I seen the westfila site and they said its under the battery cover but that connection seems to big and does not fit.

Its defiantly my car. The connection I have is 13 pin connection for the van right down too the connection in the pic. i there another connection ??

really at a loose end

Take they tow bar 'socket' on the car apart and check the connections in there are ok.

I have fitted tons of these on vans/trucks. been out to repair lots too, usually wires have worked loose or rust has gotten in there.

Other than that, it may need reprograming at the dealers?

I'll keep thinking though, im not a fan of going back to the dealer lol

Thanks

Its the same at Halliwell Jones Warrington.

I know am being a cheap skate but I was looking to get one cheaper. ;)

Cheaky I know but I am working off the cuff as I might not even like camping and I have got up to now A tow-bar detachable Witter at £280 13 pin Wiring at £60 (missing the important bit, but not told that when purchased) and over £1000 on the caravan as a starter van. And I will proably hate it ha ha !

I suppose if I do hate camping I will have the full towing kit for someone else E53 for sale too LOL

O and a 4 berth Sprite musketeer ;)

WOW ! Extra glad I don't need a tow bar... Having said that, mine has a removable one so I suspect this feature is already installed !!
