I am the owner of a X5 i contacted my insurers, told them change of vehicle, the covered me from the time i purchased the vehicle, but said i have to send proof of a tracker within 14 days, i know it has not got one, so i thought best for now to shop around, i contacted 4 different insurers and all want a tracker fitted, now i know for safety it seems good idea, but why should i have to get one before i am covered, anyone know if there is insurance company that does not need to want a tracker fitted. thanks for help if you can, Paul.

hmmm, not sure myself. i sure it defo hasnt got one? that type of car usually comes with them from the factory so might be worth giving BMW a call to ask.

I went whit Chriss Knott through the ex-vecs forum last year. They never even asked me if my car had one! For me in my new house in Warrington £800 give or take a few ££'s that's cheap for me ;) try them mate

Also try contacting tracker companies, I met someone recently who got himself an old M5. His insurance told him it must be tracked so off he went looking around. Hey presto it was fitted already. Just paid the £100 odd ££'s and tracked for as long as he owns the car now.

Premium Choice was the best insurer for my 7 series, even though it had gone up by over £200 from last year.
