Hi folks, first time on the site i am looking for a little wisdom about my 1999 535i. my problems started recently when my radiator sprung a leak, this was replaced and i was on my merry way again. But a week later my top hose on the radiator completley blew off an emptied the entire contents of the radiator over the street. so a new top hose was ordered and replaced, after replacing the top hose the garage had a major problem bleeding the water system but eventually it was diagnosed that the thermostat was also needing replaced so this was done. the water pump was also checked and that seems to be in good working order unfortunatley the water system is still pressurerising and has since blown the new radiator. there does not seem to be any obvious signs of the head gasket being blown apart from the water system being under high pressure there is ,no steam coming from exhaust, no water in oil, the engine sounds sweet as a nut and there has been no loss in power. thecar is an automatic and the only unusual thing i have experienced is the car will cut out once in a blue moon when i am stopped at a set of lights, any suggestions would b great thankyou for reading folks. regards Jez

welcome to the club

perhaps some sort of blockage somewere? cant see how are why that would happen. you sure the water pump is ok?

o oh im afraid ive got two friends who have had the same problems with 5 series, neither were really diagnosed, one had a new engine and one scrapped the car eventually, but there has to be a reason i hope you find it.

Get a pressure test on the cylinders, if your sure its not the head gasket start looking around that region
